Crafted with Love
They say lightning doesn't strike in the same place twice but, again, this is another absolute triumph of imaginative interpretation and excellence for the open-minded Lovecraft devotee. The short stories adapted within have a beautiful, filmic quality with the different artistic and narrative styles complementing each other like an old Amicus port manteau. The images range from wonderfully angular stylized pieces ("The Temple") to a realism akin to, say, Brian Bolland's work ("The Festival"). This keeps the experience as a whole fresh and surprising, breathing new life to old bones that many of us will be familiar with. The tone throughout is just right and absolutely does justice to the creeping menace of Lovecraft's visions.I can't recommend this highly enough and can only hope for a third volume... Go on, treat yourself! The stories contained within this volume are:- Pickman's Model- The Temple- From Beyond- He- The Hound- The Nameless City- The Picture in the House- The Festival- The Statement of Randolph Carter

Fantastic adaptations of Lovecraft.
Got the Kindle version of this in an amazon promotional sale and have to say i really enjoyed it. Each story is drawn by a different artist so the styles of art vary with each story, often to great effect. The stories tell themselves but the artwork gives the stories that little more edge and bite. Not a massive book, but if you're a fan of Lovecraft and you can get it at a good price, Well worth the money.

Good book, but read Lovecraft in a book not in graphic novel
This is a great book for those who love comic books and who enjoy seeing work from a range of graphic animators. However I sent them back since in my opinion Lovecraft stories have to be read in their full glory, the whole story word for word. Otherwise the quality withers. Great for people who may not like reading very much though - which I am like that! - but I would miss out too much if I didn't read the book and copped out with a graphic novel. That's in terms of content. In terms of quality, the images are fantastic and quality of books are great.

Great artwork and strong story adaptations
My teenage sons are big Lovecraft fans, and have gotten me interested also. These writers and artists in both Volume 1 and 2 do a great job of bringing the Author's stories to a graphic novel format. Terrific work both artistically, and in the compressed storylines. All are good, some are truly creepy, everyone leaves you with a haunting uneasiness. Great stuff.

Howard is Horrortastic
Beautifully Illustrated, and a great rendition throughout. As Lovecraft himself once rapped..."...Yo Bums, rush the Shoggoth!" I'm down with my homeboy Howard."DRIPPING WOUNDS OF WEIRDNESS!!!"

Elder Gods
Excellent adaptations of Lovecraft's less well known works, accompanied by some very creative art work. If you're a fan this worth the price of admission!

Not very happy
A little bit dissapointed. The stories are too short and it is like all the ends are open. When you are in the best part... the story concludes. I do not want to diwcourage anybody. I think this is part of Lovecraft universe and I am not use to it. Great drawings.

Way better than the first volume in every way
Way better than the first volume in every way. Especially the art. Honestly I was heavily disappointed with the first volume because most of the art had this silly comedic aspect which is so violently different that the aura that Lovecraft so brilliantly exudes in this writing. This second volume contains more tales from the dream cycle stories of Lovecraft which generally being shorter in length than some of his other more popular works, probably fit better into comic form. To this day I have still not read a graphic interpretation of "The Colour Out of Space" that has done the original a bit of justice. Then again, I know that may be an impossible task. Either way, volume two has some great art and adaptations of Lovecraft's shorter works.

Great depiction of HPL that usually gets little attention.
As with all this line of Lovecraft adaptions this volume uses a wide variety of art styles to really remarkable effect. This volume goes after some of the lesser known short stories, some of which may have been illustrated before. If you like Lovecraft, by which I mean H.P.'s own words as opposed to his ongoing cultural dissemination and dilution, these should go well on your bookshelf. I won't recomend it as the first of these volumes to get but if you like the others I imagine you'll find what you liked in them here as well. If you are a beginner I'd say try The Lovecraft Anthology: Volume 1 first. If you are more experienced the single novella volumes like The case of Charles Dexter Ward or At the Mountains of Madness mght suit you better and I think after that I think you'll come back for more.
