Awesome product by Pibox. I used to buy Raspberry pi components from here since long time. Never got disappointed. Good things: 1. Case is extremely rugged and durable 2. You would have read all the reviews and yes, this is an excellent product. Apart from other reviews, let me make you aware of some points. 1. I have received Pibox India NVME M2 Enclosure, Case, thermal pad, usb type C-C, usb type A-C, two plastic screws and free Mobile stand. 2. Before registering warranty, check the cable usb type C-C, usb type A-C are working along with NVME M2 Enclosure. Should detect as 'RTL9210' with blue light ON in NVME M2 Enclosure. 3. Then unplug and insert your NVME. Mine is Crucial P3 1TB CT1000P3SSD8. 4. Check the storage capacity read and write speed. 5. If satisfied, start registering your product on Pibox india site. You'll be satisfied for sure like me. Points to note: 1. I have tested Crucial P3 1TB CT1000P3SSD8 with this NVME M2 Enclosure and following speed were recorded. a. Transferring files via usb type A-C via usb port2.0 shows around 50 Mbps b. Transferring files via usb type C-C via usb port3.0 shows around 450 Mbps c. Transferring files via usb type A-C via usb port3.0 shows around 450 Mbps While transferring data, the blue light in NVME M2 Enclosure blinks. 2. Doesn't heat much. 3. Build quality of enclosure and other accessories are top notch. I'm using this as external storage for personal photos and videos backup. Ensure you are powering this NVME M2 Enclosure atleast once in a week. Also, try visiting the Pibox India website. You will be surprised to see their genuineness. I bought it as a b'day gift for brother . Already got one with rgb for personal use . At this point in 2024 ssd and nvme are almost same price for mid / high tier products . Gives around 700 - 800 MB/s of copy speed depending on files being copied and the nvme used . Smaller multiple files , found in web projects etc , will be much slower . Supports gen 4 ssd's , although it seems like a questionable choice ( financially and efficiency wise ) to use gen 4 drives for primarily use in this casing since the transfer speed will be almost same for gen 3 / 4 nvmes and true speeds cannot be matched without using the motherboard pcie slots . But it's a good functionality nonetheless . If one wants to utilize higher speeds of gen 4 try looking for enclosures which supports lightning port 3 , which are 4 times as fast , but they are 10x costlier , just sharing for knowledge . I would advice to use some thermal paste on the thermal pad for better contact to the surface and smoother rolling of enclosure . Also don't apply on the sticky side which sticks to the drive , it will make the pad slide , I had to buy new ones . Pro's : - Cheaper than competitors and same performance , it really matters . - Quite easy to install nvme . - Outer body has a nice finishing and the aluminum is nicely polished . - Simple plug and play for most modern os . Controller was launched around 2020 so quite mature at this point . - Product has extra accessory - 1 usb c to c , 1 usb a ( 3.0 ) to c , a thermal pad , a phone holder and a chained pouch to carry all these in . Also cables has a good welcro zip and the inner material of pouch is welcro too so the zip attaches to it , overall extremely nice extra items . Con's : - Inner sliding bracket is plastic and seems like a point of failure both structurally and thermally . It would be a solid 5 if the holding bracket was metalic to allow point heat transfer . - Even when idle it gets hot but I guess that is problem of general nvme compunded by being confined in small poorly ventilated enclosure . - It has design flaws , heat gets trapped and there is on very small air outlet . Other products has lots of holes for easy air cooling . - Most of heat dissipation is planned through usage of thermal pad which in turns transfers to the external body . It works on paper but in practice , not really . The thermal pads are either too thick or too thin , using them creates so much pressure on the nvme it risks physical breakage of the drive . Or if the pad is too thin there won't be contact made . They really should figure this out since nvme loses life due to over heating . - Current gen nvme to usb controllers don't support SMART status , not really products fault but something to keep in mind if one wants to monitor disk health and temperature , you won't be able to . Overall a very satisfying product if you are a tech enthusiast like me who wants to use latest high end drives as mobile storage device .

The lock of encloser was very weak, broken on the first day. I don’t even know if it came weak or the quality is as it is. Now I have to push it from back while plugging the usb cable to make it doesn’t came out

It took a bit for me to get the hang of the PiBox. I bought it to use in an attempt to recover files from the SSD on my laptop which had crashed. I finally accessed it, and found that while Disk Management (PC - Windows) showed the drive, it was inaccessible. I downloaded a free limited use scanner tool, which did find files and recovered them, but they were corrupted beyond use. I did buy a Samsung SSD to use with it (at least until I try to re-format the old SSD), which again took me a bit to get connected. The heat mat pulled the connections loose when I slid the box back together. The plug to hold the SSD in place did not hold. It was VERY TIGHT when closing with heat mat in place but it seems to be controlling heat well. The transfer speeds have been good on the few files I have moved around. The options of USB C and USB 2 cords is very nice. I do wish there were extra plugs included. I lost the included one pretty quickly. The company does not ship directly to the US. I'll keep looking elsewhere. The free stand which was included is interesting. The attached photo and screen shot were taken at same time.

I don't know if Its just my unit but it failed every time used. I won't use it. I did not give the company a chance to fix or explain - I bought expensive Samsung that I've never had problems with You never know what notes are important - not worth risking anything vital - I would not use it to transfer files even Not sure of driver software - not sure if it will be supported - just thinking about it makes me worry If I lived in country it was made I might feel better about a product like this - if it worked I actually bought it because I liked the name - different meaning in the country it was manufactured The M2 you have - this devices software/driver - might not be compatible - Not just the type of M2 Use this product if you have old M2's & using for information non critical or even close to it I am so tired of products not made close to my proximity - able to keep them in service It's just not worth the time to problem solve - they should have have covered it before selling Disgruntled Digitize'r
