Really good for preschool maybe up to 5 or 6 for discussion and developmentally delayed older kids.

Great for introductory lesson to living/nonliving
The photographs in this book are amazing. I love how it goes through the list of attributes of living things, but also lets the kids know that some nonliving things have those attributes. It's not black and white. For example, fire moves, yet it's nonliving. I also loved the checklist at the back. We used that to assess living/nonliving things in 1st grade.

Decent
I knocked off a star because the layout is pretty busy. I like that it has real photos instead of cartoonish drawings. It could be reworked to make it a cleaner read

Perfect living vs nonliving things book
This is my favorite book for teaching Living vs Nonliving things. The real pictures are beautifully printed, and it also helps to discuss how there are exceptions to some of the rules. Highly recommended it.

Great book!
I love that this makes my students THINK about what is living and not living. They think that if needs air it is living only...fire needs oxygen to burn! Also, only living things grow and change....no, a volcano is growing and changing. The discussion we have after reading the book is great as they put together that several criteria must be meet.
