Record Cleaning Brush - (Red) Vinyl Record Rescue

Works Very Well, Looks A Bit Cheap.
Those who enjoy vinyl records like myself are not bothered by the ritual required to preserve them, while reducing the "pops" from embedded dust. The care needed can be extensive, depending on the fastidiousness (or degree of obsessive-compulsion) about the matter. I wanted an alternative to the D-4 liquid and brush method, as it's not necessary each time you play a record. In the past, the variety of brushes and anti-static devices could satisfy the most obsessive person; now however, the choices are slim indeed. Thus, when I saw this brush I jumped at the purchase; remembering how effective and easy carbon-fiber brushes are at removing static and debris from records. This brush does the job well, despite its cheap-looking appearance. The handle is of stamped-metal, that rotates around the horizontal axis, thus partially protecting the bristles when not in use. If you are careful when rotating the handle into position hold the brush, that is to avoid contaminating it with finger oil, it works very well. It is wide enough to cover an entire 33 rpm record and the fibers do seem small enough to get inside the record-grooves. I haven't yet worked out a system to remove the accumulated debris from the brush, but for now my ears tell me that it does reduce the pops and scratchy noises from my records. In general, I'm a person who prefers a "form follows function" philosophy, but once that is achieved believes that good craftsmanship adds the human touch that makes things pleasurable to use beyond their fulfillment of a given use. In this case, I'm definitely pleased at the performance of the brush, and it is easy enough to use; however there are two things that displease.First, the handle is made of a U-shaped piece of steel, within which a plastic carrier contains the bristles. This handle looks and feels cheaply-made. In addition, the bristles are bent in places, and unevenly cut in others. These don't seem to affect its performance in eliminating dust particles, but do cause one to pause to evaluate. The only real cause for concern, however, is the edge of the steel handle, which is not completely finished and if dropped could possibly damage a groove or two. To prevent that, don't hold the brush by the red part of the handle, but rather by the plastic cover that swings out of the way, and provides a positive grip that only a drunken-sailor might mishandle. Lastly, there are only two rows of bristles, which makes the product look and feel cheap. Those I've purchases in the past had 3 to 5 rows of bristles, which picked up more dust, while simultaneously reducing more static to prevent dust accumulation while the record is playing,Despite these observations, I am exceedingly pleased at how well the Record Rescue removes dust and static. A simple before/after test easily shows my ears that it is indeed doing its job. Now, if they would add more bristles, use wood for the handle (with nicely rounded edges) and a third row of bristles, I would gladly pay twice the price to own one. For now I'm happy and well-provisioned, but will be keeping my eye out for other static-dust removal brushes; after all listening to vinyl records is truly a ritual-centered activity, and nothing adds to a good ritual like tools that are pleasant to use, good looking and of high quality. Unlike digital equipment, analog devices require persistent and thorough care; for some this is well worth the effort, for as others are rediscovering, the analog experience has a nicer "organic" feel to it. Yes, there are occasional pops and scratches while listening, but there also is a more direct sensation and "immediacy" to the sound compared to the "sterility" of digital recordings. For my part, I enjoy having access to digital and analog; each has its place. Good listening to you.

HANDS DOWN THE BEST VINYL BRUSH ON AMAZON!!!
I desperately needed something quick and easy to clean my records in between plays. I tried several of the other brushes out there on Amazon and nearly all of them either fell apart, were defective, or permanently damaged my records.. Nearly all of them except the Record Rescue Brush!PACKAGING: The packing is very slick and even provides microscopic close up shots of vinyl before and after cleaning. The instructions on the back of the package are easy to follow and pretty clever actually. What’s more, I actually visited their website too and it’s chalk full of additional information and videos.SIZE: The brush was a bit larger than I expected but it makes sense as the brush needs to stretch across the entirety of the record to pick up all of the dust and dirt. It’s a great size.FEATURES: As most of us know, records tend to collect dust because of the static-charge they can carry. This brush has an anti-static feature to it that totally works! You can basically drag the brush across the record to the spindle and neutralize the static charge inside your record. The black, self-cleaning handle is also pretty smart too. You simply rotate the handle bar back and forth in order to clean the dust and dirt off the brush itself. (I’d recommend cleaning the brush away from any open records). Also, I wouldn’t recommend holding the brush by the black handle - the instructions actually say to hold the brush by the red part near the logo and it really works so much better that way.QUALITY: First, the best thing about this brush is the softness and quality of the carbon fiber bristles. Some of the other brushes I’ve tried have permanently damaged my vinyl because the bristles would either scratch my records or fall out onto the record itself. Not this brush! This brush is absolutely killing it with high quality carbon fibers. Second, it really works. I’m noticing much less pop/crackle and much more high fidelity music. Couldn’t be happier with the quality of this brush.BOTTOM LINE: I’m giving this brush 5 stars in part because of the high quality, features and the fact that it REALLY WORKS, but it’s also worth mentioning that Record Rescue’s customer service and communication is top notch! I had a few questions for them once I received the brush and they responded to me ASAP. They even sent me a downloadable PDF for more precise instructions and a step-by-step how to. Do yourself a favor and try this brush!!

Just don't drop it
Good product, my only complaint is that the handle broke from knocking it off a table. It still functions well and takes a lot of dust off of records without scratching them. I've used it on some colored vinyl and it doesn't seem to shed any bristles either.

THE PERFECT COMPACT TOOL TO KEEP YOUR VINYL CLEAN AND YOUR MUSIC POP-FREE!!
I'm an avid vinyl collector/listener and since lots of my collection came from my grandparents, parents, and thrift stores, I have to deal with lots of dusty records. A hate it when I'm listening to a great record but have to try and ignore the popping sounds of dust in the grooves. I've tried several different methods of cleaning records (different types of brushes, microfiber rags, solvents) and for the price and simplicity, this brush is a winner. It's the perfect little tool to quickly get your vinyl sounding great again!PACKAGING: It comes in a great sealed package (pictured) with instructions and everything you need to know printed right on the back. No need to worry about damage when it comes to your door.SIZE: It was actually smaller than I expected, but once I opened it and tried it out, I'm super happy with the size. It's the perfect width to clean off a 12" LP and I wouldn't want it to be any bigger.FEATURES: The black swiveling handle is a great idea. It keeps the bristles safe when not in use, and swipes away any dust you collected when you close the brush for storage. The bristles are suuuuuper tiny and soft. When you spin your record under the brush and are holding it at the right angle you can kind of feel them locking into the grooves of your record as they clean out the dust.QUALITY: I'm always afraid of buying inexpensive things on Amazon because sometimes you end up with really cheap plastic that will basically break if you look at it too hard. Not the case with this brush. It's made of great plastic and seems very durable. The micro fibers also seem to be of very high quality.VALUE: I've spent too much on vinyl cleaning kits before that don't get the job done. This is simple and well worth the price. Especially if you listen to vinyl a lot and care about the keeping your music hi-fi and keeping your records in good condition. All in all, this is great little compact tool that everyone who listens to music on vinyl needs to use before they listen. I'm recommending it to my buddies that are record collectors.

It's a great little brush!
It's a great little brush!Cleans all the visible stuff of the record surface, cat hairs, tumble weeds, small pieces of lint etc. I don't know if it has a million little brush fibers though, I stopped counting at 100! Don't get me wrong there are lots and lots! It takes a very light touch to use properly though with satisfying results.Has worked well so far, no issues at all.Later update-After using this for a while I'm quite surprised at the amount of dust it picks up. For best results you have to have a very light touch with the bristles barely coming into contact with the record surface. Dust, lint etc that wasn't visible to the naked or bespectacled eye is being picked up by this little guy.
