Huge Flexibility is brought to the AlienBee
If you want to have High Speed Sync with your AlienBee studio light, AND you already use the PocketWizard FlexTT5 and Mini TT1 system, then this is for youWhat you need beyond the AC9-Mini TT1 or Flex TT5 on the camera to trigger.-Flex TT5 at the AlienBee to receive. (The AC9 slides onto the Hotshoe of the Flex and then a small cord, included with the AC9, runs from the AC9 to the AlienBee)-a way to attach the Flex/AC9 to the lightstand or the light itself (Hildozine transceiver caddy V2.5 for PocketWizard Flex TT5)In mixing this with other lights, you can use virtually any PocketWizard on the other lights w but the AlienBee will be the only one that can sync beyond your cameras native sync speed.I use this with several Canon 580EXII's, each on their own FlexTT5 unit. They all fire, in sync, all the way to the maximum shutter n my camera 1/8000th. Is there light loss? Yes. Is that loss worth it to add the power of the AlienBee B800 to my lighting line up? Yes.You do need to update your Mini and Flex units with the PocketWizard software to actually know they are working with an AlienBee and AC9 but that only takes about 5 minutes. Then you can also turn on "Power Tracking" so your modeling lamp changes when you change the power output at the camera.I'd also recommend the AC5 Zone Controller, makes it easy to change the power levels of, up to, 3 groups (including the AlienBee) right from your camera. In short, I really liked the AlienBee before...now I really love it!

Simple to use and gets results.
There isn't a lot to say about this product other than to say it works! You place the AC9 adapter onto your FlexTT5 and then plug in the cable from the AC9 to your AlienBee.Disable the optical slave by plugging in the supplied sync cable adapter (not a cable, just an adapter)Turn on your speed-light, turn on your FlexTT5 with the AC9 mounted and you're ready to go.It's really that easy. Now make sure you do it in this order and your camera is on, and with the MiniTT1 or Flextt5 already mounted on the camera or you may end up with some sync issues. What I really love is that the Modeling Light on your AlienBee will darken and brighten as you change settings on your camera. What I don't like is that you have to take a shot in order for the AlienBee to receive changes you've made. They call this the "calibration shot".Overall, I'm happy and I would suggest this product to anyone who owns or is going to own AlienBee Studio Lighting.

Mmmm, I could sack my assistant :)
My assistant's career is now at risk since I bought the AC9s.Being able to remotely control my Alien Bees has revolutionised my wedding shoots - so much so that I'm not sure I need an assistant anymore. [Who am I kidding - I still need someone to carry stuff........]Paired with a small family of PW Flex & Minis & AC3s, I was excited to see my modelling lights adjust to my commands, all from the comfort of the hotshoe and [whilst playing around] all from the other end of the street. The AC9 does what it says on the box - can't ask for more than that.Even more impressive was the fact that Amazon shipped halfway around the world and the AC9s were still only 1/2 of the price quoted by the local Australian importer.

Wow! This is a great addition to my studio!
Have you ever wasted precious time trying to get your Alien Bee powered up (or down) to a specific F stop? I have and it's maddening.Well not any more. I have added 2 AC9's to 2 FlexTT5's and put a Pocket Wizard AC3 on a MiniTT1 and now I can quickly (and easily) adjust either light in 1/3 of stop increments, up or down!! I can now do in seconds what used to take minutes (sometimes lots of minutes!), what a time saver. Yes the whole setup is a little pricey but I had the Flex's and Mini already so all I had to add were the 2 AC9's and the AC3.If you use Alien Bee's then you need to consider adding the AC9's to your setup.

Neat concept... if it worked
The theory behind this unit for the new mini PocketWizards is that you can control a White Lightning or Alien Bee Studio strobe from your camera. Well, not really. I haven't been able to accurately control either type of light from my camera accurately. Additionally, the AC9 is suppose to allow high speed sync, similar to what you can achieve from a Canon Speedlite -- i.e. - shoot at 1/500 of a second instead of 1/200 or 1/250. Doesn't work. While I tried to follow the steps outlined by PocketWizard's videos (the printed info is very limited), I was unsuccessful. I feel as though they are more concerned with trying to sell you yet another gizmo -- the AC3 -- than fully explain proper use of the AC9. Wish it worked. As a pro shooting on location, it would be a great tool.

It is ok. The problem is that the hole ...
It is ok. The problem is that the hole thing put together with other accessories needed to work it turns in to a big bulky set up and occasionally will miss fire.

In tandem with an AC3 and a FlexTT5 on my camera, I can adjust my AlienBees from my camera.
When used in tandem with an AC3 and a FlexTT5 on my camera, I can adjust my AlienBees from my camera. Truly makes a slick studio setup.

Solita qualità pocketwizard
I migliori probabilmente sul mercato e per questo si paga qualcosa in più non sempre giustificato ( come in questo caso )
