The Charger from this Supplier is Brilliant!
This is a two related products (the actual repeller device and the charger) comment here:1) The actual Mega sonic cat/dog and fox repeller device (STV 620) - on getting it from B&Q i paid full price for it at approx £29.99 ish (I should have shopped around and got it cheaper from Amazon). IT DOESN'T COME WITH A CHARGER (you have to buy that separately) AND THAT'S A TOTAL DISGRACE!It takes 6 AA batteries and i kid you not due to the wind moving shrubs/trees etc they were flat within 2 days. I put another 6 AA batteries in and again within two days they were flat. I phoned Defenders and politely requested they supply a free charger in view of my situation i.e. batteries going flat every two days - BUT they wouldn't listen - THEY DIDN'T CARE - Their understanding of customer awreness was 'zilch'. They wanted to sell me one on top of the £29.99 i had already paid, at another £18 for their charger and P&P! Hence i give the Repeller product a good review and score of 9.5/10 but Defenders the actual company a bad review with a score of 0/10!2) So now i had no option but to shop around for a cheaper charger and thanks to the company who provided this charger - i want to say THANK YOU - YOU DO UNDERSTAND CUSTOMERS AND YOU ARE CUSTOMER AWARE - So 10/10! Excellent charger and excellent speedy delivery. Now does the Actual Defender Repeller device do the trick - right with batteries going flat every two days - no - still had animal poo problems. HOWEVER on receipt of the charger and that now my device was plugged into the mains - i have had probably one actual poo in the garden (by an animal that is) and one almost poo - just caught the cat in position when i yelled at it like a monster and off it ran! What else have i done - i watched 'youtube' and took other precautionary measures mentioned too: In key pooing spots 1) remove all poo and dispense with (in a dog poo bin etc) 2) i purchased chicken wire in rectangular sheets and placed these on the gravel where the cat/fox typically pooed 3) cut up an orange into segments and throw these around the gravel area (someone told me cats hated smell of orange) and 4) stuck plastic forks in everywhere a cat /fox may choose to sit to poo including in between plants and shrubs etc. So far between all of these the job is now done! Although my beautiful landscape garden and expensive gravel look ridiculous and the aesthetic qualities are ruined! but i am free of cat/fox poo! Hurrah

It works!
I bought this to go with my Mega-Sonic Cat Repeller – because I had read that the repeller eats batteries and is more effective when powered by mains electricity. Trying to maintain a traditional garden in an area where people keep cats but don’t seem to know about cat litter, I wanted to give the repeller every possible chance of being effective 24/7.I’m disappointed with the repeller – or its contribution towards solving my cat problem. Its range isn’t as great as I hoped and cats aren’t giving my garden as wide a berth as I would like. (OK, they will have no sense of boundaries or property, their owners’ or mine, and the machine quite rightly doesn’t actually hurt them in any way.) But I am 100 per cent happy with this adaptor as a transformer and power supply.I have electricity in my garage, so this gadget is plugged-in there and the lead trails under the garage door, clings to the brickwork around a corner and bridges a short space to the repeller. The location is fairly sheltered and the wire doesn’t trail on the ground, so I am giving it (I hope) favourable conditions, but it is outdoors – exposed to all the elements – and it seems to have no problem with any of that.So far as this part of the outfit is concerned, the real business end is inside the garage. It came with a continental plug fitting (which just might come in handy one day, you never know) as well as one for the UK, and has the nice touch of the transformer being able to swivel on the plug socket. Thanks to that, the wire can come out at whatever angle is best for where it needs to go, saving possible snagging of the wire.So what more could I ask? It doesn’t look as if the weather will cause any problems for the wire and (low voltage DC) plug that necessarily trail outside, and it works.

Cat free, as long as it keeps going!
Had this a while now, the first one suddenly packed in but the company were very good and sent a replacement straight away, this is still working fine, it is now powered via the optional adaptor as the batteries did not last very long, any shrubs or movement caused the unit to operate and drain them fast. It is in a pretty sheltered location so it is not open to too much rain as I do not think it would last too long as it is not classed as waterproof. Anyway, saying all that, does it work? well yes it does. The usual neighbourhood cat route is no longer in use and one was seen trying to skirt around the area without much success and to our amusement. So as long as the unit is reliable and you save your money on batteries by getting the adaptor it seems a good and humane way to keep unwanted cats at bay.

Just a Power Supply
What can you say about a power unit, it provides continuous power to the Defender Mega-Sonic-Cat-Repeller. When you need continuous garden cover it hopefully will cost less to run than batteries. The cable is very thin, unless you fit a Repellr in the same place on a wall ( which cats will soon work out the area covered) will defeat the object of the repeller. I have run mine through a length of round conduit and garden hose, to enable the lead to cross a path with gravel. I also have extra cables to enable the Repeller to be moved around. I only use this on one Repeller but |I am sure that by using an adapter it will run more, the power output seems high enough.

Make sure it's MEGA-sonic
Does the job well. However, bear in mind that it is intended as a mains adaptor for a MEGA-sonic cat repeller. I have now bought a Defenders cat repeller and the two go together just fine. I had already bought an ULTRA-sonic cat repeller, of a different make, and the mains cable was so short, you couldn't use it down the garden, but the Defenders Universal Mains Adaptor did not work with it at all. When I phoned the manufacturer, they confirmed that it would not work except with a MEGAsonic unit. Make sure before buying. I am now looking to see if I can find a cable for my original unit, so I can use it, aswell.
