Incredible set of features, not simple firmware updates
The DSP engine is superb. I can’t believe my ears.Routing this as my DAW interface has been a dream. You can even use it as an outboard FX insert, crazy.I paired it with a BOSS FS-6 and don’t miss the pads. The process to update the firmware is… not simple. Take it slow and read the process over a few times.

Better then other mixers like this for a YouTube Podcast home studio setup
First I had the 8 version and sent it back and now went with the 5 version as this is all I need. Both are fantastic. If you compare the features to other mixers in this class like the Rodecaster and even the new Mackie DLZ Creator XS the Boss Gigcaster offers a lot more is so many ways.It has all the same main features as the others but with the included voice and guitar effects it takes it a long way past the others. The voice effects it includes and that you can make for your own are fantastic and much higher end quality then the others and features more effects you can use to make a custom sound for your voice. Then it has a full range of singing effects so if you sing at all or want to record someone singing you have all that covered as well all built in.Then the guitar effects are just fantastic as well if you play guitar you can use this to record into your DAW with high end guitar sounds no amp needed and also great for just playing for fun.You can also set it up for recording into your DAW for multi track recording as it can break each input down into its own track as you record in.I use OBS to record into for making videos and with the Gigcaster 5 and 8 you can set it in streaming mode and then in OBS you get the different outputs to pick inputs into OBS so you can have two mikes on different tracks being recording and have a cell phone or other items also on another tracks being recorded in OBS or other recording apps. This way when editing your recording later you can then still edit each audio track on its own or when live casting you have full control over the mix much better. You have an EQ you can set up for every channel and some effects. It has a lot of ways to send sound and set it up.You have main and monitor and more. and headphone mix. Cab mute any Chanels or punch in for the headphone on a channel. Also the app lets you control all of it in fill. They dont show it much but the 5 version also has the same full 8 pads for sound effects that can also be programed for many things. It's on the touch screen and works the same way as the pads on the 8 version except it is on the touch screen. Then you have the foot switch you can add on that can let you trigger effects with you foot great for guitar players but also for podcaster or content creators as you can trigger sound effects, change you voice setting as you are talking and more even use with some midi to control things like OBS.So over all the Boss Gigcaster it the better choice for a mixer like this over all the others is so many ways. Many people use it as a live mixer for playing out on jobs playing guitar and singing live.

Can’t connect USB to iPhone/Android, only laptop!
An amazing mixer, with the ability to multitrack both mics AND the stereo ins! Amazing effects with the ability to stack 10 in a chain! Endless settings to tweak! Almost everything I need and more, except for one MASSIVE flaw! It only connects via USB to a laptop because it needs an app (!?!?) As an electronic musician, I need my laptop to make music, while I record to an iPad. Also, who the hell uses the weak camera on their laptop to livestream anyways?
