amazing and stimulating music
ordered this CD "just because" it's jazz, saxophones, and it happened to be a very stimulating listener's experience. I usually listen to ska only, but those pieces did please me a lot)))

Local favourites BTMSQ rock the house with this full-length album. The four sax players and their drummer are some of the most happening women in jazz/funk today. They've performed with the Indigo Girls (at Bumbershoot 1999) and the Pat Graney Dance Company, performing music from this album live onstage for the dancers. The name of the band is a tribute to Billy Tipton, a jazz pioneer who dressed as a man so she wouldn't have to deal with the gender stereotypes of her time. If you're in love with bluesy, funky, jazzy sax played with power, check out this album, and the shorter "Make it Funky God" EP.

Best all sax jazz group
I saw this group in San Francisco 3 years ago by chance when they shared a double billing with a better known group. I never heard of them before but they completely dominated the evening. Their beat, harmony and solos were all first rate... As good as any group I've heard at the Monterey Jazz Festival. Some of their numbers had a Central European- gypsy flavor to it. This CD is representative of what I heard that night. I only wish that they had more than one.
