Material appears to be strong and waterproof. I did not test it. Nice pockets and storage space. The outside has lots of Velcro and straps which seem to be for decoration and would get in the way in woods or combat but not a big deal.I was hoping to pay more and get something better. The material is an upgrade but the design is slightly better than my Walmart backpack but very similar. It has the same weak point where it is held on with a strap. This usually snaps over time. These straps appear to be slightly denser and slightly stronger than the Walmart bag that is half the price but not by much. About two years of regular use it will probably snap then you have to throw away a good bag because it's difficult to carry without a shoulder strap. I put a photo of my old bag and the new one.It doesn't have any special padding like a hiking bag. It's about like a good high school backpack but stronger water resistant material. Overall it's a decent buy but I would not rate this at military level probably after one tour this would need replaced. Though a proper military backpack is like twice the price as this. This is something in between. It's beefed up compared to a normal bag but not all the way to full military grade which should last a long time.
