Very informative book
This book is a great book I used it for research for a class I was in - Business Ethics. The question I was asked was "What do you base your ethics on?" and I said "The Ten Commandments;(the Decalogue)", using quotes from this book and others to craft my answer. It was Choc full of great referance materials and was a very interesting read too. I would recommend it for Ethics and Law students alike; as well as anyone with an interest in the priciples and ethics this country was founded on.This book was well researched and referenced for college level use.

Hard to hear for secularists but EXCELLENT!
This is a book very much needed these days. Even the constitution leaves out the Sunday according to the 4th commandment and the framers of the consitution signed it "in the name of our LORD". Which LORD? Mohammed? Marx? Darwin? You know better than that...

Where is the evidence?
Before you read this book, do a little research on your own. If the Ten Commandments played a role in the formation of the laws of this country, you would hope to see them discussed in the forums where these laws were formulated. For example, the transcripts of the Constitutional Convention, the Federalists Papers, the transcripts of the first meetings of our new Congress, all are logical places where the Decalogue would have to be discussed to claim its role in US history. Are they there? No. The Supreme Court has never cited the Ten Commandments as a legal authority for any of their decisions. Federer's arguments are fuzzy and dance around the edges of reality. This is not a book for those who want their history without attached agendas!

My Favorite Part of the Commandments
Where does this fit into American Law:You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me
