A great dvd set
I had been looking for just one film, but comparing the prices it made sense to buy the box set and receive five films. The dvd arrived promptly, was well packaged, and a good price.I read some of the previous reviews of this item, the main theme seemed to be one of lack of clarity on the sound and speech on some of the films, I found no problems whatsoever, speech was clear and precise, and sound quality good as were the quality of the films in general considering their age.I think the problem might be one of diction, we speak somewhat differently to how we did some years ago and younger people seem to struggle with this aspect somewhat. I was bought up in an era when correct pronunciation was most important and so understood all that was said in the films perfectly..All in all I would heartily recommend this set, some great classic films which I have throughly enjoyed watching.

Good, clean, witty brilliant fun!
Having watched The Ladykillers for the first time in goodness-knows-how-long on TV recently, I was reminded how brilliant, clever, funny, entertaining, clean, witty (and thought-provoking) the films from the Ealing Comedy era were (and still are) - especially the talents of the late, great Sir Alec Guinness (pre-Star Wars Obi Wan Kenobi) who was the original Father Brown (before Kenneth Moore and Mark Williams). I bought this collection of my favourite Ealing Comedies to save me waiting for ages until some television channel decides to show them again... and I can enjoy them whenever I like.

A replacement for my original set which I lent to a German friend and haven't got back yet (still circulating around film fans in Europe I guess!), My favourite is still 'Kind Hearts and Coronets' - love the light touch of such a dark subject. Probably not the done thing these days to cheer on a serial killer!

British comedy at its best
Hilarious movies. They're all great. British culture at its best. 'The Man in the White Suit' makes we want to go back to old Lancashire, but the best of this lot are the wonderful 'The Ladykillers' and 'Kind Hearts and Coronets' - brilliantly crafted dark comedies.

What wonderful films they are
Excellent value for money, five wonderful comedies from my childhood. One complaint I have is that whoever wrote the information on the cover should have been told that Stanley Holloway was Stanley and not 'Andy' ! obviously someone who doesn't appreciate our fine actors from that era.The appearance of an uncredited Audrey Hepburn in 'The Lavender Hill Mob' is a treat.

Great films.
Great classic films, Alec Guinness plays the roles well and they are still just as funny.
