I bought this after I was loaned a much older copy. When I looked at the authors of this book I discovered they were the same ones who had written the Nurse's Pocket Guide with Diagnoses, prioritized interventions and rationales that I love. This is the BEST care planning book that I have purchased...and I have purchased several. This one gives you a complete rundown of a condition - pathophysiology, classification, etiology, statistics, glossary of terms, related concerns, labs/diagnostic procedures, patient need categories with symptoms, priorities, goals, diagnoses, actions and interventions AND rationales for each...yes, each! This book will not have every disease/condition, but it has a lot. Wonderful tool when you are beginning to construct care plans. I wish I had it earlier. Highly recommend buying both of them together.

Great purchase
I purchased this book for Nursing School to help me write care plans for my clinical paperwork. It has been extremely helpful for that, but also learning about different diseases/disorders in general. This book will be an essential item not only for the rest of nursing school, but well into my career I'm sure. I purchased a "used" version of this book, but when it arrived it was really brand new and still had the online resource code inside which was wonderful. The book arrived quickly.

Great purchase
Great text! I was not a nursing student but needed to know more about creating care plans and this book goes through many stages and identifies common stages in care plans for many different situations and illnesses. Plus, if I bought this at my college it would have been hundreds of dollars but it was less than $20 on amazon!

Helpful, convenient
I have used this book all 3 years of nursing school. Extremely convenient for making care plans. I tell all of my classmates and students in the classes below me to order one. Well worth the money.

Love it for both those
I teach nursing and bought this to help my student. We have the companion book (Nsg Dx Reference Manual also by Doenges) on our required student purchase list. This one seems to be more helpful for the students early in their studies to get a handle on PLANNING in nursing care. I use it with my clinical group (smaller number of students) and also when making study guides or presentations for larger classroom. Love it for both those uses

Not quite sure how useful. Not helpful for the first care plan that I am working on. This was an essential test so had no choice but to purchase.
