I have this the light comes on before the alarm sounds .. I have it set for 6.30 and the light starts at 6.00 and gradually gets brighter until the alarm goes off at 6.30 .

Q: Can this lamp become completely dark gradually at night so I don't need to turn the light off ?

Hi - no this version doesn't have the option to go from light to dark at night. It does make a great reading light at night, then just touch the top of the light and it goes dark in a couple of seconds.The alarm options are very nice: birds chirping or some sort of alternative sound which I use and it's wonderful to wake up to.
