Works well on my classical guitar
I'm delighted with this capo on my reproduction of a 1930's Hauser classical guitar. The guitar has quite a thin neck in terms of front to back dimensions and Hauser put a very slight radius on his guitars in this period, both of which characteristics created problems for my old Shubb classical guitar capo, and in fact the Shubb simply doesn't work on this guitar below the fifth fret. The support team at G7th suggested the Newport Classical model would be a good model for me as the upper metal housing of the capo has a slight radius, but the rubber presents a straight edge to the fretboard which gives some flexibility and adaptability in handling both flat and very slightly radiused fretboards.I'm very happy with the result and it works very well on my guitar on all positions on the fretboard: a gentle turn of the adustement screw allows the removal of any spurious buzzes once the capo is closed, and the capo itself keeps nicely out of the way of your hands while it is in place. It appears to be a well-made and nicely-engineered product: for those wondering, the mechanism this capo uses seems to be an evolution of the Shubb-type mechanism but with a slightly more elegant cam-lever mechanism hidden under the bottom metal housing of the capo.I would certainly buy the Newport Classical Capo again if I lost mine and I am considering the G7th Newport partial capos for my steel-string guitar. As an aside, I think capos have an important role to play on Classical Guitars, particularly when transcribing pieces written for pianos or other instruments, and I don't accept the snobbery that some in this milieu show towards them.

Does a great job for 12 string
This is the best 12 string capo I have tried so far. I am using it with a Lowden 010 12string and the tuning when putting a capo on is always a big issue - not so much now. I have tried others, but the extra force needed to fret the small string that is next to the wound string puts the wound strings well out of tune with ordinary capo's. Not quite as easy to use as the normal one handed G7 capo, but I am not sure that will ever be an option for a 12 string. Recommended.

Excellent Quality
Does what it says and is very sturdy and of excellent quality. This is a high-end capo. I particularly like the gold as it looks a bit special. It's compact and easy and quick to fit. It doesn't clamp to the headstock so well, but slips nicely in the pocket. I like the screw tightener. It makes me feel more confident when I can put it on different guitars and know that I can tweak it to get the pressure just right. The Performance model is another alternative if you don't want the screw action.

Good, but not as good as it could be. But its design IS very sleek.
Choosing and using a capo is an odd mixture of looking for effectiveness and also style. There's no doubt that the G7th looks VERY stylish and, you'll be happy to hear, it is a LOT lighter than its 6 string equivalent which uses the clutch system. However, unlike the 6 string G7th, which can grip very well simply by squeezing the jaws together when it's in place, the 12 string version uses a different system. In a way, it's not unlike a lot of other capos, especially the Shubb, against which I compared it (and which I have reviewed separately). Shubb Capo Noir - 12 String Guitar The G7th uses a screw system which you have to set and then simply clamp it in position. I found that the jaws don't open quite wide enough to make it easy to slide into position and even on a top-flight 12 string with an amazingly low, smooth action, it was quite a job to get it to grip the 6th string pair firmly enough so as to not move or sound dull. It did work well once I had it fully adjusted, but it was a bit of a struggle to get there. Depending upon your 12 and its action and neck contour, it may well perform exceedingly well and far more easily. For me, however, there was really no context and I MUCH preferred the Shubb even though it looks and is a fraction more obtrusive than the G7th when I'm playing. I will hang on to it, but only as a spare in case I misplace the Shubb.

Sheer genius!
Anyone who's tried to tame an acoustic 12-string with a capo will know that they can put up a bit of a fight. Having tried many brands (some better than others and some that were obviously intended for the novelty market), I was a little sceptical about this, but from the very first fitting it's been an absolute revelation and a joy to use. I sometimes spend entire evenings just putting it on and taking it off, though it is early days still, and I am sure this idiot behaviour will soon cease. On a more serious note, I don't know who came up with the idea of the compensated string pad, but their genius needs recognition and a statue should be erected. On a compensated plinth. My only criticism is that it is not available in black. I like black. My guitar is black. It has a black fretboard. All my other capos are black. My clothes are all black. As is my car and just about everything else I own. Please make this capo in black, G7th, and make me an even happier man than I already am.

Works brilliantly !!!
Reviewed by a very amateur middle aged wannabe rockstar...Upgraded from a cheep sprung lever style capo to this. I was having issues with notes distorting, not fretting down correctly and lots of string buzz, a completely useless capo but I only paid about a fiver for it.Took this G 7th out the packet slapped it straight on the third fret of my Epiphone SJC acoustic and it just worked, didn't even have to adjust tension. Gone are distorted notes and buzzing strings, it works brilliantly. So will if fit my Les Paul ? Yes it will. Excellent, so next test, a1982 Westone Thunder 1A, amazing it also works brilliantly on that.Wanders off to get my bass guitars out...I rarely use a capo on bass but thought I'd give it a whirls and guess what, also works a treat on both a 1982 Thunder 1 Fretless and my new Yamaha TRBX304 although I did have to increase the tension quite a bit.Overall a great product, expensive but as the saying goes buy cheap buy twice, which is exactly what I've done and this looks and feels like it will provide many years of service. A vastly superior upgrade to what I had.

Works great on Taylor 12-string
It's a nice capo. I bought both 6 strings and 12 strings. I've had G7 before and the workmanship and operation are impressive.

G7th Newport - 12 string capo
Fantastic capo that works as advertised. The sawtooth shape and adjusting screws make all the difference and eliminate buzz with ease. Great purchase.
