HIDDEN GEM
Kate Miller-Heidke is one of the most original singer/songwriters you will ever come across. Her songs appear, at first listen, to be quite lightweight, but boy how wrong can you be. There's a depth and maturity to her work that makes you want to listen over and over again. This album is her second and breakthrough in her own country (Australia). The most famous song on it is "Last Day On Earth" which was recently used in the TV series "The Big C" to great effect. But there are lots of other gems on this superb album. Theres always a touch of humour to her work in tracks such as "Gods Gift To Women" but there is also a very humane side to her work in tracks like "Caught In The Crowd" Kate's albums don't seem to be easily obtainable in the UK but she rewards investigation. Its also worth searching out her videos, which never fail to entertain. This is a very rewarding album, buy it and you wont be sorry!

Love this album and I have to say there are few albums where you don't get the odd track you want to skip through to get to the good ones. EVERY track is fab buy it!

Curiouser - Kate Miller Heidke
A brilliant follow up to her first album "Little Eve" all tracks are great but outstanding tracks are "I like you better when you're not around" a really catchy hook and riff. The haunting "Last day on earth" and "motorscooter" but every track is good and different. If you haven't heard Kate Miller Heidke then you are in for a treat she is a huge star in her native Australia and should be here as well. There is more to music than X Factor and radio play lists.

Great CD
This CD is packed full of good songs. There are only a couple of them that I do not love, but I like all of them.

You'll be dancing in the car.
I heard one of Kate's songs on the radio back home and immediately went about ordering the entire CD once I was back at uni only because I kept finding myself listening to Shake It over and over again on youtube. To tell the truth, I was a little nervous that I would end up listening to it five times and then chucking the CD into a pile of other forgottens. But to my surprise, this stayed in my car for five months straight, being my own little pleasure every time I took trips to work or the grocery. It's pop, sure, but has that flair of opera that Kate was trained to sing. And the lyrics are spot-in. Full of depth and speaking of things much more playful or dark than the usual pop songs that you'll end up hearing. After a few months of obsessing over her music, my friends ended up listening to her while on a midnight run for food, and we were literally dancing in the car at a red light, listening to Shake It on full blast with the windows open. One of the most enjoyable nights of my life. It was also enjoyable when I realised that they had all enjoyed her songs so much that they each asked about the CD later on (and every single one of them then got the Cd!). She's so catchy and fun and real--it's hard not to like her music. I highly, highly recommend checking her out!
