Quarry: Season 1 [Blu-ray] [2016] [2017] [Region Free]

This is terrific stuff should your interest err toward the darker side of human behaviour. The great thing about a series like this is the main character of Quarry is given time to develop and above all become more rounded, more so than a one off film. He is a killer, but the backstory surrounding him is slowly revealed, culminating in a powerhouse final episode mostly set in Vietnam, leaving you wanting more.This is violent, the carnival shootout and the Vietnam scenes in particular. The performances are great. In the lead, Marshall-Green`s expressions give rise to the slow realisation he isn`t the same man that has returned home, and home isn`t the same either. The spark between him and Jodi Balfour makes what happens to them believable as their relationship unravels. I think it hits the right note, although the boat escape stretches things a bit. Peter Mullan as The Broker is his usual brilliant self, and especially Damon Herriman as Buddy, a grinning, wayward yet loyal psycho who provides some much needed comic relief at times (enjoyed the scenes where he get`s his wounds patched up, verbally jousting with the old lady.). I can`t believe this show has been cancelled. Max Allan Collins created a great character, done justice by the storylines in this series. A great pity.

I love this and the fact it's Memphis in the 70's. I think it's captures the time period well. If you like True Detective season one then I think you'll like this. It's violent, dark in places and has a story line that makes me want to keep watching. I hope there will be a season two.

I think this show might have gone under the radar,give it a go,you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic series if you like the 70s you will love quarry maybe not as action packed as say banshee etc but attention to detail/story/acting are amazing. Bring on season 2.

Really enjoyed this TV production. Never did know where the story was leading until the very end. The performances by all the actors was good, although some of the violence was quite graphic. The production quality was very good and really did believe that the period of early '70s Memphis was accurate.

Really worth watching. Loved the characters.

Not like True Detective, but does have the cool southern American setting.

Fantastic series. The acting and plotting is first rate. Pity there's no second season as it got high viewer ratings and plenty of great source material.
