A **MUST** try for Cushings dogs, may cause anxiety/stomach upset
My 20lb terrier/spaniel mix had been sick since May (3 months) and getting worse. She had several blood panels, and the ACTH test confirmed mild Cushing's. Switching her from hard food to fresh (Petsmrt) resulted in her ALP going from 625 to 228. Still high, but much better. It solved her drinking issues, 3x normal, and pottying accidents. In the last month her back legs have gotten worse. She no longer wants to go on walks. I have to carry her to the lawn to do her business. She is blind, another related side effect, but can go up and down stairs. The specialty vet recommended 20mgs of Trilostane (Vetoril) daily. They warned that it was hard on dogs and they were right. This made her noticably worse and I immediately discontinued it. Another vet suggested Melatonin. One pill made her restless and worse. Glucosamine/Chondroitin pill 1x day didn't do anything for her. Last night, I added the Adrenal Harmony Gold drops to her food. (She has a voracious appetite, a side effect of Cushing's.) This morning, I came downstairs and there she was, waiting for me by the front door to go potty! I could not believe it. She acts like she feels like a million bucks! This is after just one dose (and actually half of the correct dose, more on that later. I'm just amazed since I've spent thousands of dollars on tests, stress on her and months with no improvement. No vet even mentioned this product. If your dog has Cushing's or the symptoms, I would highly recommend trying this. The company offers a money back guarantee. My dog has almost all of these, except for the skin issues.Cushing's symptoms: Your dog is:Thirstier than usualSeems hungrierPees more often. Housebroken dogs may have indoor accidents.Loses hair or it is slow to growGets a pot bellyHas thinning skinSeems very tired and inactivePants a lotGets skin infectionsSwitching food plus this supplement was expensive, but so worth it. Thank you to the other reviewers. This is my honest review, I don't work for any related company and didn't received any discounts.-----------------------------------------------Update: It's been a couple weeks and I'm giving her the suggested dose split between meals - on her fresh food. It says bacon flavored and she loves the fresh food. Pup is doing well and still goes out on her own to the restroom. Her leg weakness is improving. I read it can take a long time for that to resolve. Fresh food is a game changers. It solved her drinking/pottying issues and improved her liver values drastically - that is the only change I made during that time period. When I tried reintroducing dry food (I tried 3-4 high end foods), even as part of her diet, her demeanor was markedly worse.-----------------------------------------------Update 2: My dog had diarrhea for several months. My vet noticed the bottle said, may be a GI irritant. I immediately discontinued it and she placed her on an antibiotic. I feel terrible for not noticing this warning. It's been a week since I've made this change and her diarrhea is improving. From her sickest until now, my dog is much improved - happy, no more moaning like she used to, her appetite is great, her leg strength is back and she climbs up and down stairs again. The vet ssuggested a mild diet since her second round of antibiotics (white rice, eggs, chicken and/or turkey). Find a good vet and trust your gut to do what you think is best for your dog's situation. There are different variations of Cushing's, as well. This may not work for all dogs. The disease is more prevalent in certain breeds.------------------------------------------------Update 3:After a week off of Adrenal Gold, she was deteriorating - low energy, hind legs issues and just not her peppy self. I realized I'd been dosing her half of what the bottle recommended, ugh! 10 drops per day than 2x per day. So, back on Adrenal Gold again and I am experimenting with her food to get the right combination that won't cause diarrhea. A high protein, low fat diet is recommended - I now make her food. Please tell your very if this works for your dog so other dogs will be saved from a premature death----------------------------------------------It's been one year since Bella started this medicine (+ fresh food) and she is doing great. OthShe can go on short walks and is her tail wagging, happy self. I buy this from Amazon or direct from the manufacturer. The dosage on the bottle is appropriate. I amake her food as follows: I chop/combine the following cooked 9 ingredients: 2 lbs ground turkey, 1 dozen free range eggs, 1 bag frozen organic spinach, chopped green beans, cubed organic sweet potatoes, ~ 1/3 cup olive oil (I use California brand), large container organic plain greek yogurt, apple and instant organic cooked steel cut oatmeal. I make batches for several weeks and freeze what I don't use within 5 days. I give her one drop a day of a product called Biosil for hair growth.--------------------------------------------11/11/16Bella is still doing great - 95% of what she was pre-illness. People who haven't seen her in awhile remark at how well she looks and acts. She loves short walks and has a voracious appetite like always. I give her people food for snacks - corn chips, strawberries, raspberries, small pieces of frozen cooked meat, etc. as my vet recommended. Adrenal Harmony Gold 2x a day with her food. This product has given me my dog back and I'm so grateful š. There are hundreds of reviews on the retailer's direct website, too.----------------------------------------5/12/18 UpdateMy dog is still doing well on the same protocol. Last batch I put the turkey and eggs in a crock pot, mashed it up with my hands, added steel cut oats (maybe a cup?) a bag each of frozen organic sweet potatoes, squash and spinach (all from Walmart) and cooked it in a crock pot on high for 3 hours, added the chopped organic apples, olive oil and yogurt.5/30/19 UpdateGirlfriend is still kicking! My biggest struggle this past year is getting her to eat. Iāve experimented *a lot* ā an expert told me oats arenāt good for dogs and sprouted buckwheat is a good alternative. I figured out she gets bored with her food and has trouble smelling it I alternate between different brands of fresh food usually delivery. I bought a feeder with a cold pack in the bottom and sections that rotate, so she is never without food. She definitely gets āhangryā or anxious when she is hungry. Sometimes itās just water she needs and I have to place her in front of her water bowl so she finds it. For treats she gets Nature Valley Granola bar (crunchy, broken up) or fast food plain cheeseburger. She also wears washable dog diapers I got on Amazon.3/23/20It's been almost 5 years. 3 months ago, she started having bloody diarrhea that would not resolve. I realized that she had all of the symptoms of Addison's (the opposite of Cushing's), took her off her medicine and took her to the vet. He prescribed Reglan, Sucraflate and Metronidazole. This really helped get her stools close to normal. After 2 weeks being off Adrenal Harmony Gold, the blood test showed her ALP high 200s, close to where she was when she was originally on the medication, nothing else very serious. If your dog is having intestinal issues, consider stopping this medication. She is blind/deaf, spins in circles, sleeps a lot, but is still able to find her food, water and walk around outside.12/5/20 Bella passed over to the Rainbow Bridge on November 6th. 5 years after we thought we'd have to put her to sleep. In retrospect, her spinning/restless behavior was often because she was hungry. She couldn't smell well likely because of years of blindness and running into walls with her little nose. She wasn't on this med since the last update. Thanks for all of the 'likes', it made the process all worth it. None of the many vets ever suggested this medicine. Please tell your vets and friends, so more dogs can be spared the pain of this illness. Feed your dog real food! There are many variations of Cushing's, don't give up on finding what works for your dog. My true and honest experience after much research and $$$. š¶š¾11/1/21Ashwaganda is a main ingredient in this medicine. I personally tried it to keep me from waking up at night. Even at a low dose, it made me anxious, anxious enough that I won't take it. This is not uncommon. Bella was very anxious, especially towards the end of her life. I do wish I had scaled back on this medicine at times. That and keep an eye on stomach upset, as well. It's a balancing act. Research and do what works for your fur baby.

Saved my Pug/Frenchie mix
My girl was diagnosed with Cushingās disease about 2 years ago. We were managing her symptoms and the disease really well until recently. She started being picky about food which was never an issue as sheās a pug and LOVED food, ALL food. Then it turned into not wanting her home cooked meals at all. She seemed to be growing more and more tired followed by what we thought was an injury to her spine. Xray didnāt show much just normal wear and tear on her 10 1/2 year old body. Her back legs were giving out and she could barely stand. We treated her with gabapentin to ease the pain in her spine. I should mention sheād been on trilostane these past 2 plus years. Well B started to deteriorate faster and faster. She barely wanted to eat, couldnāt sleep enough, was depressed and so lethargic.. not to mention skinny with no muscle whatsoever. Last Thursday night I thought āthis is it, this is when I lose my girl.ā She was weak and fragile, shaking and convulsing. She couldnāt hold her head let alone her body up. She appeared to be having seizures and neurologically not right. We started the Adrenal Gold on Wednesday evening (one day prior).. on Friday morning I woke at 3AM to find her under my bed, sheās never gone under before, ever! I was worried that the day to come would be the same as the last. And then Friday night something was different in her, better she seemed better kinda.. I took it with a grain of salt because I knew how bad of shape she was really in. There was no way to stop the disease from taking her life I had thought. Saturday morning I woke up to a bright eyed dog! I started to talk in my cutesy- baby-dog voice talk and she started jumping and running around my bed. I was shocked! I have 2 other pugs so the first thing in AM is breakfast!!! I was in even more shock when B could not only walk but run to the kitchen AND was excited once again to eat! She looked like a different dog. It is exactly one week today that she started Adrenal Gold. She is eating and playing and genuinely a happy girl again. She went on her first long walk again last night. I swear she was smiling and so happy, she led the pack and was strong enough to pull the leash the entire time. Iām not sure what will happen with her trilostane as sheās been off it since last Friday but I know that Adrenal Gold will be a constant and is worth every single dollar. It saved my girlās life and I canāt thank Pet Well Being enough! If your fur baby has Cushingās try it! This magical bottle of Mother Earthās potion is truly GOLD.
