Microsoft S3V-00014 Xbox One Play and Charge Kit Black

My son recently decided he had to switch from being a PS4 user to an Xbox one user. Long story but his friends were all on Xbox One and not PS4. Shame he hadn't realised this before the elves got busy last December but there you go.Obviously as a PS4 user, he had the luxury of wireless controllers with rechargeable batteries that you simply plugged in to the front of the PS4 to top up every now and then. It was therefore a bit of a shock when we got the Xbox One and this was no longer the case and battery eating became a household pastime.It may seem like a fairly trivial thing but constantly having to replace (and make sure you have in the house) batteries is a bit of a pain in the backside and after one sulky Sunday afternoon, I thought I'd look to see if there was a better way. There is, and this is it.OK this isn't dirt cheap, but it's well worth it in my opinion for the convenience and useability. I dare say that over the next year or two, the cost of the unit will also be covered by the savings on batteries. Even buying batteries cheaply at Aldi meant that we were burning through at least £2 worth a week - so £100 over a year. It adds up quite quickly!This gives you exactly the same functionality as we had with the PS4 controller. You get a rechargable battery module which fits snugly into your Xbox one controller, and then you connect this to the Xbox via a cable. You can play as it charges and when it's full you can simply disconnect.Why didn't Microsoft include this as standard? No idea. I think they must have worked out that they'd get away with it.I looked at a variety of non branded alternatives, and settled on this official Microsoft unit. It was a few ££ more expensive but I think it's worth it for the peace of mind, plus I don't want anything exploding while charging.This is simply a MUST HAVE accessory for any Xbox user. It should have come as standard but it doesn't, but you'll get the cost back in a few months if not sooner on the savings on batteries.

Packaging:The product came packaged in a light and compact box. It was delivered to my house the same day that I ordered it so timing was no issue in delivery. It worked perfectly the second I got it up until the time of me writing this review. I have thoroughly used this product already and I am still yet to find a fault with it.Inside of the packaging came the product itself along with helpful installation instructions. I myself did not fit the product first try but after a quick scan over the installation guide it was very clear on what to do.Product:For a parent of a child who loves to play xbox non-stop, I hate buying expensive batteries, this kit means that I no longer buy batteries and it works out a lot cheaper in the long run. Definitely recommend you to buy this!My overall opinion of this product is strongly positive. I think that this product is good and its battery life is sufficient in my standard xbox one s controller. The cable provided is also very long which is great for when the battery goes flat and you need to play whilst charging. Only problem i have found is that the battery does not hold its charge that well, so when the controller is left unused for a couple of weeks it has lost alot of its charge. Also the actual green xbox packaging for this battery is way over the top and whilst not a problem for the user its just a waste. Overall reasonable preformace though and i will be buying another for my other controller.
