Alison Golden's Case of the Broken Doll - Best so far in D.I. Graham series
Our new favorite detective, D.I. David Graham, is back along with some series regulars as well as newcomers on the scene. Alison Golden has placed Graham in yet another mysterious case taking place in Gorey which is basically a fish market town in Jersey. This time he is faced with a cold case of a missing 15 year old girl who has not been seen in 10 years. In fact the story opens on the 10th anniversary of the missing Beth Ridley. Reluctantly Graham decides to reopen the case and re-interview anyone and everyone who was around at the time she went missing. Most of the Gorey Constabulary is tasked with finding any information relating to the missing girl's case. No stone is left unturned in trying to solve this disappearance case. Ms. Golden has set out some very tough situations reaching in many directions to inhibit an easy solution in finding the truth about Beth Ridley.Along with this case interesting non connecting cases are pursued especially the items being stolen from boats & supply store at the marina. This leads to a very harrowing sea chase in the English Channel. All and all Ms. Golden has supplied readers of the D.I. Graham series with yet another terrific, interesting and entertaining novel. If you haven't read any of these novels then I as an avid reader of all types of mysteries, etc. would highly recommend you give this series a try.

Another great read from one of the best cozy mystery storytellers!
Allison's excellent writing ability shines through once again in this Inspector Graham episode. I believe it is the 3rd one I've read and it is by far the best. I am a fan of the Foyle's War TV series and the setting and characters remind me so much of that show. Just like Foyle, the Inspector doesn't get excited and is a stickler for getting the facts right, whereas his understudies are a little too quick to jump to conclusions and rush into an arrest before they have "all their ducks in a row", much like Foyle's driver and the stationhouse constable on duty. So it is easy to picture these characters as I read through the descriptions and accounts of all the clues in the investigation. Allison does a great job of concealing the truth until the last minute and then tying up all the loose ends.As usual, the author uses good grammar, proofreads her manuscripts, and leaves me wanting more. I look forward to my next Inspector Graham story with anticipation!

Excellent Mystery!!
I absolutely loved this book. I started reading and couldn't put it down. The writing flows nicely and it is very easy to get into the story and the characters are very comfortable and easy to get to know. Although this is the 4th book in the Inspector Graham series, this is the first one that I have read but the book is stand alone and I had no problem picking up with this story without having read the first 3. However, I have to say that I plan to get the first 3 and read them as I enjoyed this book so very much.Detective Inpector Graham sets about to solve a cold case that he has stumbled onto within his jurisdiction. As he does so, we get to know him and his colleagues on the Gorey police force. As he tries to unravel the disappearance of a 15 year old girl ten years prior, there are twists and turns to the plot that take the reader through the history of the case and to a very interesting solution. I highly recommend this book.as it is well written and fun read.

A Fabulous Addition to The Series
The Case Of The Broken Doll – Book 4The main mystery in this story reminds Inspector Graham too closely of his own personal tragedy (revealed in the first book). Various incidents arise that may or may not be related, and it takes all members of the local constabulary working the various issues to determine the culprits and if related or not.I have greatly enjoyed every single story in this series, but I felt that this was the most fleshed out of them all. By this point Inspector Graham is becoming more comfortable in his new locale and job site, and that reflects in his confidence with tasking his employees to handle the numerous events which occur during this book. All of the characters contribute to the humor also written into the story – gotta love the Bangkok Palace restaurant staff. LOL. I can’t wait to read the next one!Reading the previous books in this series is not necessary to enjoy this one, but they will provide additional depth to various comments and situations.

Persistence, ingenuity, and excellent teamwork win the day
The characters in this story come alive as they work to respond to calls and show their mettle. D.I. Graham is truly an excellent police detective and leader. In fact all of his team have great skills and specialties. The story is especially enjoyable with the mixture of routine police work mixed in with the major investigation. It makes the story seem more real. Emotions also seem very real and understandable. The interaction of the characters also gives the story realism. Five stars for sure!

ANTICS OF VARIOUS ANIMALS
Inspector Graham doing early Christmas shopping notices replicas of a broken doll at different stores. Of a girl age 15 who disappeared on the way to school, had collected them. An old case, a fund is still going on to help look for her. In talking with the mother and seeing the girls room. A book with secrets on the cover, would that reveal anything. Book depicted the antics of various animals. Interesting of the animals came to described a person, and how the clues were revealed. An interesting case to follow. Liked the characters, good series.

Great mystery
I really enjoyed this David Graham mystery of the Broken Doll. This is the second novel I’ve read about Dective Inspector Graham. I love British stories and especially mysteries and watch them on TV. The characters are strong and fun. The main mystery is accompanied by a side mystery. Mustn’t give anything away. I was able to get into the story and forgot I was reading.....always a good sign to me when I get lost in the story. I even have it rolling around in my head for a while once I’ve finished. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mysteries but also British mysteries. Looking forward to the Missing Letter to read next. I am really enjoying Alison’s books.

Another good plot with plenty of twists and turns
It was good to see DI Graham in action again. I love how his team have developed over time with the inspectors guidance.Another good plot with plenty of twists and turns which all started ten years ago. Can DI Graham unlock the secrets of the past? What surprises are in store for the team? I'll stop now before I give anything away......best if you just read it. You will enjoy.

A fun read
I discovered this author a few months ago and have been happily taking advantage of her 'lockdown' offers of free or discounted books. They are very easy to read and are well thought out and the characters well developed. I particularly like the characters in this series
