Color and Texture in Weaving: 150 Contemporary Designs

Ive only just started weaving with a table loom but the book is brilliant and full of ideas for patterns and colours , its a brilliant resource though maybe not really for beginners

The text and photos are well organized, the accompanying drawdowns are excellent and are easy to follow, and the verbiage is direct and has a nice personal touch. Ms Selby is encouraging in her message to go ahead and experiment. I recommend this book to any weaver who wants to go beyond their comfort zone when exploring the use of color in weaving.

This book is a must have for the weaver's library. After learning to warp a loom I found I needed help finding ways to creatively use my yarn stash. I wanted to make fabrics with exceptional, unique and interesting colour combinations. I needed help to get started.This book is the inspiration I needed. It's beautifully laid out with colour photos from beginning to end. The book starts by showing you how to create your own palette and collection of inspirational items (mood board) to aid you in your planning, taking colour, construction, texture and finishing into consideration.The Colour and Stripe chapter has many pages showing samples of yarns put together in groupings such as complementary, hue and tone, etc. Seeing actual yarns laid out is much more helpful than a picture of a colour wheel.The Collections take up half the book. They are a wonderful display of fabrics but what is most helpful is that the weft and warp yarns used are shown so you can see the palette. Then these yarns are also shown as warp and weft wrappings where the yarns in their correct order and sequence are wrapped around cardboard. They sit next to the completed fabric so it's a super visual tool to show yarn to cloth. I found this the most useful because just looking at completed fabrics isn't enough to see how many rows or stripes of a certain colour were used. For each collection there is a threading plan, a sample of the fabric both front and back which show how the pattern repeats.I must thank the author for reinvigorating my desire to collect things that I find inspiring to help me make my colour choices. I highly recommend this book.

die Muster sind inspirrierend, leider fehlen wichtige Angaben fuer die Muster, z.B. tie up ectr. fuer Anfaenger ungeeignet. Es fehlen Angaben um die Muster problemlos nach arbeiten zu koennen

この本と同時にContemporary Weaving Patternsを購入したところ、表紙の柄、タイトルがちがうのに中身は同じものでした。出版社が違うのでこんなことになったようです。この本を買う方は気をつけてください。内容はこの糸を使って織りましたというふうに糸と織り地の写真が載っていてまあおもしろかったです。
