I frequently listen to audiobooks because travel is required as part of my job.First the reader - Jeremy Irons does what I would consider to be one of the best jobs ever in bringing the story to life. He brings the story to life. The characters crackle and his various voices have the listener enthralled throughout.Second the story - I have read other reviews about the "Simple" and "not very developed characters", and I have to say the characters move the plot, the fable along. This is a simple story of faith, dedication and perservance. I listened to the story, and then took a trip with my wife and boys to see my Dad (six hours a way). My sons 16, 14 and 12 were enthralled. I put the first disc in looking for some peace and quiet on the trip (backseat arguing), and immediately stopped. After 20 minutes of quiet, I thought they were bored, and started talking to my wife in the front seat. All three boys said I was rude and should stop and listen. The entire trip down to Illinois from Minnesota was spent listening to spellbinding fable. In fact, the boys wanted to loan the book to their friends to listen. A great, peaceful trip and a fable (listened to and enjoyed). Simply fantastic.

I bought this CD at this time because there were so few available. So, it's hidden in a suitcase. It's actually a Valentine's Day gift for my husband to inspire him on his bucket list trip scheduled for spring 2024. I thought he'd enjoy this story, especially with Jeremy Irons reading. A friend gave me the book in 2006 when I was traveling to a new job. I couldn't put it down. I finished it before I arrived at my overseas destination. My wish is that my husband will find the story equally riveting.

Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist is a wonderful book that resonates with anyone who has struggled or is struggling with finding and fulfilling his or her personal legend or destiny. If you are ready to think deeply about everyday things and how they become magically intertwined to help us live our best lives, grab this book. Its people, places, and situations are mysticly familiar, stimulating, and motivating. Get ready, you're going to the Oasis! You're going to speak to the wind! And you are going to believe that anything can be turn into pure gold!

This is a wonderful book to listen to while driving. Jeremy Irons is a lovely narrator. This story will stay with me forever. A beautiful tale about life and our internal divine impulse. I feel inspired by this beautiful story.

This was a great experience it was a fast shipping and the cd were in excellent conditions. The book is awesome Go ahead, read it....and then pursue what you will. I was inspired by this extrodinary search of such a simple and meaningful concept.

I really enjoyed this. I enjoyed the voice of the reader. Easy to use, and understand. My son had a report to give on it, we had a great time listening to it

I liked the recording. Its more like an Aesop's fable. Story with morals

A beautiful expression of life's ups and downs. No matter how you fall, how many times you fall, you must bounce back. The important thing is to enjoy the ups and have courage during the downs.

Very enjoyable book. It was engaging and inspirational. A must read for the teenagers and the more mature alike.

はじめに日本語でこの小説を読み、続いて英語のペーパーバックを読み、それからこのCDを聞きました。英語の勉強中で、暗記用やヒアリング用のCDを持っていますがどうもやる気が出ないので自分の好きな話なら続けて聞けるかな？と思い購入しました。この小説は私にとって人生のバイブルです。シンプルなのにとても深く、いつくになっても生きることを諦めないで進む勇気をもらえます。そんな大好きな物語を英語で聞けるので、勉強してる気もせず、楽しんで何度でも聞いています。英語も聞きやすくきれいですし、英語のペーパーバックの通りなのでわからないところは確認できて勉強中の人におすすめです。勉強しつつ、内容で前向きな気持ちになれます。もちろん、勉強とは関係なく純粋にこの物語を初めて聞く人にもとてもおすすめです。私はこの小説をイギリス人にすすめられました。読んでみて、こんなに素晴らしい小説なのに、世界中で翻訳されているのに、日本ではあまり有名でないことが驚きです。

Had read this masterpiece on my ipad but didn’t get the vibe which one gets after reading the book. Purchased the hard book just to get that feeling while leafing through the pages. The book is all about a guy who becomes a Shepherd in pursuit of his dream.
