Product Description Psychiatrist Nathan Conrad (Michael Douglas) finds himself caught in a living nightmare when his daughter is kidnapped by desperate jewel thief Patrick Koster (Sean Bean). Koster is searching for a precious stone which was stolen from him years ago, and to this end he needs to obtain a secret code hidden within the disturbed mind of Elisabeth Burrows (Brittany Murphy), one of Conrad's teenage patients. Koster now tells Conrad that the only way he'll ever see his daughter again is if he extracts the code from Elisabeth; but Elisabeth isn't speaking ... From .co.uk Adapted from Andrew Klavan's bestselling suspense novel, Don't Say a Word is a suitable companion to director Gary Fleder's earlier hit Kiss the Girls, with solid performances serving a plot that begins promisingly. The tension starts when the daughter of a top-notch New York psychiatrist (Michael Douglas) is kidnapped by a bitter ex-con (Sean Bean) with an old score to settle. Aided by an unwitting colleague (Oliver Platt), Douglas can save his daughter by extracting crucial information from a traumatised patient (Brittany Murphy), while his bedridden wife (Famke Janssen) and a tenacious detective (Jennifer Esposito) do their part to solve the mystery. Fleder pushes all the routine buttons with effectively sombre style and Don't Say a Word will satisfy anyone with a preference for high-anxiety thrillers. Even as it grows increasingly conventional, it's still entertaining without being particularly original. As a by-the-book programmer, it's just right for rainy-day viewing. --Jeff Shannon

A Solid, If Predictable, Thriller
I like Michael Douglas, Sean Bean and Famke Janssen, so I decided to buy this. I watched it last night and I quite enjoyed it. However, I do emphasise the word "quite". I thought this was a solid little thriller, with enough action to keep me interested and a reasonably good plot. It was a bit predictable in places, though and I could pretty much guess what was about to happen in some scenes. There were also a few plot holes, but this didn't spoil my enjoyment of the film too much. It was also nice to see Sean Bean and Famke Janssen in another film together, after they appeared in Goldeneye all of those years ago. As I said, I like all three of these actors, so I knew that I would enjoy this film. Just don't expect anything too mind-blowing and you should enjoy this. I give it three stars because it is a very watchable, if flawed, film.

Good thriller with Sean Bean
Quite a decent thriller, with Michael Douglas, Sean Bean and Brittany Murphy. Thankfully, Sean keeps his english accent, as some other english actors try their hand at being american, which is fine, but not when you're so used to them. That being said, it starts at the beginnng. Many thrillers have to build up, which at times you lose the thrill of the plot. Then, you're thrown into the present day, and start to understand the characters. It has a few twists, but nothing that really jumped out. If you're after a decent thriller, have a go :)

Really great film
This movie was a great watch. It literally had me on my toes from start to finish I couldn't keep my eyes off the screen. I am glad that the jewel thief Patrick Coster and his other criminal friends got their karma in death for what they have done to Elisabeth Burro and her father and to this other family. The movie was unique and wasn't predictable. I can't believe to this day Brittany Murphy is dead she was such a talented actress. Hollywood really lost one of its golden treasures. It's such a shame.

Pretty good if you like thriller/tension movies
Michael Douglas plays a fairly good part. This has some typical aspects of kidnapping stories, but also some new and different parts to the plot and action. Good entertainment if you are not expecting a super high level of credibility re. skills of the baddies and timing of the police.

Absolute Rubbish
So unbelievable it was laughable. Threw it away! Phsychiatrist walks out of secure institution with patient wrapped in blanket. Young bedridden mother with leg in plaster and a cage overpowers strong man not just once but twice and hobbles off on crutches. And so it goes on. So ridiculous I'm surprised Michael Douglas was associated with it.

Good film
Good film. Douglas is an excellent actor. Esposito I am in love with anyway - she is gorgeous. Storyline very good and Shaun Bean brilliant as the thwarted villain.

Grab a cuppa and enjoy
This is a really watchable film. Michael Douglas is great and his young daughter too. Some bits are a tad predictable, and a bit unrealistic living in the real world but the perfect movie to watch on a rainy day with a cuppa.

A good thriller despite the plot holes.
In the main this is entertaining despite a few glaring plot holes. Douglas is solid, Sean Bean is quietly menacing but for me Brittany Murphy is excellent as the traumatized mental patient at the heart of the story.Good solid performances from the peripheral actors help the plot along. All in all a worthy, tense film that is surprisingly satisfying even allowing for the odd inconsistencies to the plot. Recommended.
