Epic value for money. It is what it is - a decent DVD player and massive audio extension for the TV which gets rid of the rubbish inbuilt TV speakers and replaces them with quality sound which is split between two very tall ones, a sound bar style speaker and two smaller boxes to dot around the room wherever you want and gives a bassy sound through the sub.Different sounds are split between different speakers, so for example in a programme where there are cars, running water and people speaking, it will send the sound of the water to one of the smaller speakers, the speech to the sound bar and then split the car revving between he 2 tall ones and distinguish the different sounds between speakers. And the subwoofer does make a difference. It's cheap, it looks good, the sound quality is decent for the price and it WILL improve the sound of the TV and make watching things much better. The only cons, I suppose, is the software is a little dated and oh yes it took ages to set up (almost 3.5 hours) but that's probably my lack of tech skills. What you have to remember is that you get what you pay for - and although this is cheap the overall package is much better than you would expect. If you want an epically massive system with 5000 speakers and a million horsepower then go and spend £3,000 on another system. But if you want a decent system to play DVDS, plug in an AUX, use for a sound system and all for a low price, then get this.

Perfect sound system for my needs
Very happy with the sound system. Very good sound system for the price. The system only works with DVD player and it doesn't have a hdmi arc port to output tv sound through the system. But if your TV has an optical output you can get your TV sound by buying Optical cable and Digital to Analogue converter which was mentioned in the first answer. The links to said products are below.http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0074JZ8ZW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002NLWD5O?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s0If your tv supports optical sound output go for this LG product. Very satisfied. It also works with an Auxiliary cable but I won't recommend the product to output your TV sound with auxiliary cable.

Good customer service....
Only one HDMI port, rear tallboy cables are shorter than the centre speaker that sits atop the player (what brilliance, truly the design of an intelligent being); sound quality is mediocre but really loud and clarity is still present at high volumes but a terrible buy if you want to connect your PS4 and Tele at the same time due to limited HDMI ports. Also, you will not get 5.1 sound from any other source than the player; meaning, if you route your game or other device to your Tele then to the DVD, you will only get regular stereo. Only things played directly from the player yields 5.1 surround.

... over an hour to set up I was very pleased with this item good picture
received this home cinema surround today and although it took me over an hour to set up I was very pleased with this item good picture ,great sound and for this price brilliant only thing and I have to say to anyone that is thinking of buying this item it has no scart at the back of the machine so get other means of connecting this unit but apart from that very good value for that price

Works perfectly and as it should, ignore 1 star ratings
Great system for the price! Zero problems with it. Don't know how people are having problems with it. If you want all speakers to work while connected to the TV, simple red/white audio cables is all you need and select AUX on the system (turn down TV). This will produce stereo sound through all speakers but not surround sound. Surround sound only works while watching a DVD. If you want sorround sound while watching TV, buy a system with a digital optical port built in or to improve the sound from TV, you can buy a digital to analog converter.. Head phone jack does connect to TV as well but only 2 main speakers work this way so you are better off using red/white audio cables while watching TV with the systems speakers. For best quality sound and picture while watching DVD, use a HDMI cable

Well happy with the product
Well happy with the product, not difficult to set up, arrived quickly and the sound quality is better than expected. If you want a good quality surround sound system I'd recommend it. You may need to purchase a seperate cable to plug into your tv but they're pretty cheap cables and not hard to get a hold of. Not sure what the cable is called but it's the one with the white and red inputs which goes into an aux plugin for the headset slot on you tv. :)
