Writing a review on a knife set is difficult for me because I know that the true review of the knives comes after at least a few months to a year of regular use. Of course the knives are going to be super sharp coming out of the box- what matters is how well beveled the edges are to keep the edge and not go dull after just a handful of uses. Another factor is how well will the knives hold up to sharpening?What I can review is what I see in the here and now. The knives are at a fabulous price point, but one thing I have learned about knives is that there is a reason that good knives are expensive. Cheaper knives tend to only have a partial tang, so looking at the handle design on this knife and knowing its price point, I sincerely doubt it is a full tang knife set.The knives come beautifully boxed in a sleek black magnetic closure box and are protected in a customized foam padding that hugs each knife. There is a tip protector on each knife which is a nice touch. The heft and feel of each sized knife is good and each size has a decent weight. I have smaller hands (if you understand piano, I have to stretch just a tiny bit to play an octave), and the knives ' fitted handles fit my palm comfortably well. If you have larger hands, the handles may make it a little difficult for you to adjust your grip. For people who are relatively new to different knife shapes and sizes, each knife is labeled as to its type/function.They've been cutting very well so far, but like I said earlier, only time will tell.

This set is gorgeous. These knives are extremely sharp right out of the box. They come in a lovely and sturdy reusable storage box. The weight feels good and the steel looks and feels amazing. The handles are giving me pause. I am concerned about the quality of the handle. The material does not seem to be of the same quality as the blades. At the moment they cut well and feel great. I will need to update after a few months of regular use to see how they hold up in the kitchen.

This is a very nice knife set. It comes in a beautiful presentation box, so it would make a very good gift. The knives themselves seem good. The blades are made in Germany. They seem very sharp. You get a nice variety so you will have every knife you need in your kitchen. The only thing I'm not in love with is the handle. The handles are plastic and I wonder how they will hold up over time. Otherwise, I really like this set and it's a welcome addition to my kitchen since my old knives are about 30 years old!

The media could not be loaded.  I really like the sharpness of these knifes. You can cut with ease. It’s like slicing a stick of butter. The knife set arrived in a very nice package that presented them beautifully. When you hold them in your hand they do have a decent grip and feel pretty light in weight. My only concern for these is the handles material. It feels and sounds like a hallow piece of plastic that might become brittle and break after constant use. The blades themselves are amazing, it’s like having the best blade matched with its opposite. Although together they do look very nice, the materials do not complement each other. This would perhaps be a nice starter set for any one, however the price does seem a bit higher when it comes to the craftsmanship of the handles. Overall only time will tell if these were built to last or just look good at first.

Knives are light yet heavy enough to know your holding onto something that is well made.Overall packaging comes in a perfect gift size box.Knives come very sharp and seem to withstand everyday wear and tear without much effort.Shaving sharp out of the box and will sharpen without much effort .Because I have access to it I went ahead and hardness tested one of the blades and got a HRC of 56 which is pretty good for a blade this price range.

The media could not be loaded.  I'm not a real knife aficionado, so I am not sure how to tell a quality knife. The ones I got for my wedding lasted me for about 30 years. Then I bought a set from a warehouse-type store. I've had them for several years. When a friend dropped by while I was loading my dishwasher she was appalled! "You're putting your knives in the dishwasher?! You never put good knives in the dishwasher."I had always done so. She then gave me the low down on never doing that again. But since we'd been putting this set in the washer for so many years we kept doing so. But now that I've got this new set I decided to read the 'instructions' that came with it. Lo and behold it says, "Do not wash the knives in a dishwasher."So, I guess that I will follow that direction and not put these in the dishwasher. That made me wonder if these are really good knives then since they had that direction. They seem pretty nice.There was something confusing though. On the knives it says German steel. But in the paperwork it mentioned Japanese steel.I was hoping to try these on a tomato, but my hubby cleaned out the fridge over the weekend and I don't see any left. I'll have to try that later. That's always my way to tell if a knife is good or not.I did make a small video with me running my finger over the blade. It makes and interesting noise and I'm wondering if there is some way to tell the quality by the sound of the knife. Does German steel sound different than regular steel?I guess the proof is in the long term durability of these.

The knives came in a very nice box. An impressive presentation that would make a great gift. I started using them and these knives do the hard job of cutting through meat they are very sharp. The design and handle make them look elegant. I like that I can just wash them and put back in the box. The guarantee on them by the Company is great nice to know they offer it.
