* One of the legendary original punk acts who had a massive live following and legions of fans were mesmerised by Moped's electric performance and the superb guitar playing from Slimy Toad. * Now - thirty years on - we are delighted to announce a special Hip Pocket release for Johnny Moped's unique LP. * The full Barney Bubbles artwork (inner bag) is also included.

So that's where that riff came from ! Panic button 1977. American Idiot 2004.
So that's where that riff came from! Some mixed quality and one too many examples of mysogynistic lyrics, but marvel at the unbridled racket and influence on many other bands, by attitude if not aptitude. Lost classic

Three Stars
OK, but there is a reason Johnny Moped is not punk's most famous child.

I blame nostalgia and growing up in Croydon for my love of this album. Not to everyone's taste but a great incendiary device of an album. Listen to Darling lets have another baby and the monuMENTAL Little Queenie.

Tomcats And Strawberries
Two items that I suspect only go together in the mind of a certain Paul Halford, whose 1978 killer debut album this is (or maybe was?). I surprised myself by not having reviewed this marvellous record already in the light of the Moped’s recent comeback with the albums It’s A Real Cool Baby and Lurrigate Your Mind, as well as having witnessed Slimy Toad and co. support the man at the recent ‘Christmas gig’ in the luxurious surroundings of The Water Rats in London’s Gray’s Inn Road! Cycledelic does, in fact, reveal Mr Halford’s somewhat ‘progressive (rock)’ roots on tunes such as 3D-time (as indeed does the interlude, Post Apocalyptic Love Song, on Cool Baby), the Toad’s wonderful guitar solo on Maniac and the lyric ‘I used to be a hippy but I’ve always been a rebel’ on Make Trouble. Elsewhere, though, it is distinctly (proper) r ‘n’ b tinged with anarchic punk, taking in Chuck Berry’s Little Queenie and the rollicking live favourites Panic Button, Groovy Ruby, Wild Breed, Hell Razor and Incendiary Device. The man also, of course, has his playful, some might say childish(!), tendencies viz. Wee Wee, whilst also revealing his inner romantic self (honestly!) on the wonderful Darling, Let’s Have Another Baby. There really has never been a better time (their more recent material is outstanding) to catch Moped and the boys, live or on record.

one of the best bands from the first British punkrock period
Classic album, one of the best bands from the first British punkrock period. Hilarious, psychedelic, mean, great riffs, great lyrics and a genius @ the vocals. Personally, the quitessential punkrock album! Buy, Tomcats!!!

Punkrockadelic
Ignored clumsy innocent unpretentious genius of an album. One of the best albums ever made (really!!!). Nothing will quite be able to duplicate the thrill of finding the "secret track" on the original vinyl ... But...best misogynist lyric of all time "VD boiler she's outrageous, VD boiler she's contagious" and best punk love song ever (Darling lets have another baby)..Genuinely, frighteningly, great. There is no way an album of such eccentric 1977 weirdness would be released today. Apparently Green Day are considered a punk rock band. Buy the bloody thing.May include traces of The Damned.
