This set of two Pawl Caps for the ratchet locking arm of most La Z Boy recliners allow you to get some more service life out of a worn mechanism.Made of different material than the original part, this replacement is useful if the mating ratchet teeth that this cap holds against are not unduly worn. It requires considerable force to squeeze the two retaining pawls onto the old arm so that it doesn’t slip off in use, and as another reviewer pointed out, may require some adjustment to the angle of the bent-over end until it grabs the ratchet teeth reliably.This will fix a worn recliner ratchet mechanism for a while, although eventually, the ratchet teeth will become worn and also require replacement.

1st, I'm very excited this fix worked. It's very easy to install but will take some force to really squeeze the 2 tabs down tight. I used a pair of vice grips and really forced them tight. On my first attempt I added the clip as it came out of the package. It didn't work and still clicked through the ratchet when I tried to recline. So, with a little tweaking I got it right and the recliner (Lazy Boy Reclina Rocker) is now like new. I took the clip and bent the 90° bend out to create more of an angled edge for the teeth to grab. It worked amazingly. I've added the pictures trying to show what I'm describing. For bending it I put it in a vice and gently pryed on it with pliers. I'd say you could probably do it with 2 pairs of pump pliers or something similar if you can't use a vice. 1 deducted 1 star for the tweaking but overall this worked and I'm very satisfied.
