Is this tool able to pull the insulation apart in the middle of an existing length of wire? I need to splice another wire into the existing one.

I've never tried it but I would think so cause it pulls the outer insulation from T&E with out damage to the insulation of the inner cores

Has anybody compared this with the C.K automatic wire stripper? Is it better?

CK is a good choice but the Klein has a metal measure guide (all the other makes are plastic and tend to snap off after some use); also, the Klein has a metal cutting blade between the handles. Stanley is the identical model to the CK and the Klein, apart from the differences mentioned AFAIK.
