Strong: Psalm 1

Comforting and beautiful artwork, very toddler/preK appropriate

The pictures are great and the message is wonderful! This is one my kids pick to read often.

I love this book. It takes one of those important scriptures that highlights what true discipleship is and makes it accessible for young children. The pictures, like all of Jago's illustrations are beautiful and whimsical. He has trees from many places around the world depicted in the book. Jones makes the analogy come to life. It's a beautiful little book with a soft, cushy cover.

This paraphrase of Psalm 1 is probably my favorite of the Sally Lloyd-Jones books. It's beautifully adapted in a way that perfectly captures the original psalm. Each page has wonderful illustrations of trees from all over the world. It's a beautiful book!

Like the other books in this series, the story is simple and the illustrations are eye-catching. This book talks about trees growing. They are strong in their roots and they bear fruits. It is like a conversation with God about His Creation.

This book is beautiful, and I love both the reassuring message and the sweet illustrations. A great addition to the series.

In Strong: Psalm 1, Sally Lloyd Jones paraphrases part of the first psalm, describing the ways that trees flourish when they are planted by water. She then expresses the psalm's message that being close to God helps us to grow and be secure like a tree. The book ends on a warm, contented note, and I appreciate this book's simplicity and its powerful message.The illustrations are beautiful. Jago depicts different types of trees from around the world, and the illustrations show children with different skin colors interacting with nature by climbing trees, hiding in them, playing around them, and harvesting their fruit. The colors are soft and appealing, with various pages reflecting different seasons of the year, and the gentle illustrations suit the rhythmic, reassuring text."Strong: Psalm 1" is a wonderful book for Christian families, and I highly recommend it. This expresses an important Scriptural metaphor in a way that children can relate to and appreciate, and the book's simple, reassuring message can also encourage parents as they read this book to their children. This book would also be an excellent selection for a church nursery or faith-based daycare setting. Even though this series has been hit-or-miss for me, this new installment is excellent. It represents the biblical text fully and poetically, and the illustrations elevate the book even further.

Strong is part of a series of board books by the creators of The Jesus Storybook Bible. Sally Lloyd-Jones and illustrator Jago have crafted a beautiful adaptation of Psalm 1 for the littlest of children. While it is a board book, even primary-aged children will learn from it.I appreciate the variety of trees portrayed in the illustrations. Psalm 1 is written in language that children can understand.Strong would make a great addition to a Bible lesson for young children. It would also be a good book for bedtime.I received a complimentary copy of Strong. This is my honest review.
