Works to control climbing dough
I have a Kenmore version of the KitchenAid mixer. This did not fit onto its standard bread hook, but it did fit a generic replacement hook for the KitchenAid. Very tight fit but softening this shield in hot water made it possible to get it over the top above the existing hook shield and clip it onto the edges of it.It works. I made a large (1 liter) batch of dough and kneaded it with this attached. Normally, I'd be watching all the time since it would be trying to climb over the metal shield and into the mechanism. With this on, while it still tries to climb, it never made it past the plastic additional shield.Very pleased so far.
