Impressive piece of hardware, but questionable software
I'd like to give this 3.5 stars, but it's not possible to award half stars on a single review. This scanner is definitely an impressive piece of hardware, and I was quite impressed to see how well it worked on my first scan of a ceramic kitten, even though I did NOT treat the shiny surface of it like the instructions indicated I'd probably have to do. I've even attempted scanning in my kids' faces, with the future intent of trying to print board game pieces with their actual faces on them. So, the hardware itself is quite solid, and I'm happy with it.It's nice that everything comes in a nice padded carrying case, so all the components can be safely stored while not in use.The turntable works very well, although in 2023 it seems a bit backwards for it to be powered via a micro USB input as opposed to a type C connector.Hardware-wise, the only thing I really don't like is the fact that the included cables are quite short, and they're all proprietary cables, so it's not like they can easily be swapped out for longer ones (or easily replaced if lost or damaged). In order to use the scanner, though, you obviously have to pair it with appropriate software. The official software to use with this scanner is called JMStudio; whether there are other alternatives I do not know, but for review purposes, only the official program is relevant. The JMStudio application is very clearly developed by a Chinese company, as evidenced by seeing the Chinese company name when starting the installer and getting prompted to grant the application Administrator-level access to the computer to install the application. It's just hard to know in today's day and age if software coming out of China can be considered trustworthy. And, if that's not bad enough, the application software DEMANDS ADMINISTRATOR PRIVILEGES EVERY TIME IT IS RUN, not just during the installation, so that means that it always has the rights to do whatever it wants to on the whole machine, and I can't fathom any legitimate reason in this day and age that the software would need this level of access just to be able to talk to the scanner. So, I would be careful about what computer is being used with the software, potentially keeping it off any machine with sensitive information on it.

works fairly good
This scanner works fairly good and if you're new to scanners and 3D object it's not gonna be perfect and most all scanners are not perfect not just this one but if you know how to edit your 3D meshes that will be a vantage because like I said it's not gonna be perfect it'll get you a general idea of the shape and it's also a scanner that it takes a little practice not just take it out of the box and start using it but once you get the hang of it you should not have a problem I think the best part about this is the turntable which will make it more steady and accurate when you scan all the way around the model versus handheld and scanners can be expensive this one is a fairly good price I would highly recommend this one to see if you this is what you really want to get into but like on mine I don't use it all the time but it's nice to have when I need it. thank you

Wow…not impressed so far…
I can’t seem to get a decent scan. I find it interesting that there is such a wide range of reviews on this…I’m not going to take the time to go into any depth but I’m not at all impressed so far. If I can spend more time and get it to work properly I’ll update this review but I don’t find it intuitive or easy at all.

Infuriating to learn, not intuitive
Update - Subsequent to writing my review, I decided to revisit the scanner and try again. I believe the software wasn't applying the calibration file correctly, so I removed everything and tried again. And this time, I'm able to generate pretty solid scans. I still find the refinement process within the software to be frustrating and I tend to export and refine in a competitor's software. But the scanner itself is working pretty well.Original - I was really excited to give this a try, but that quickly turned to frustration. I've used a competing product and found both the software and the equipment very intuitive and responsive. This was the opposite experience.First, the scanner itself is awkward to use. It's very large and with the cords plugged in all over the place, it's difficult to move it without feel restricted. The software suffers from some translation issues that make aspects of it confusing. And the turntable starts rotating as soon as it's plugged in, which I still don't understand the point of.Most important of all, I had a lot of difficulty getting the scanner to focus on smaller items. It wouldn't scan them at all. I tried a variety of colors and shapes, increased the ambient lighting, setup a backing to exclude other items and it still failed to reliably product anything identifiable in the software. It was aggravating in every sense of the word. After I'd reached my limit, I popped out my other scanner and had zero issues with the items, leading me to conclude that's it's not the items I chose for my test, it's the scanner itself.
