Creative Police Story with some PG-13 bits in a fictional 1940s L.A.
The folks at Rockstar understand what gamers want. The best description of this game is a relatively tame Grand Theft Auto. You play a police officer moving up through the ranks in the L.A. police department.(Please see the enclosed pictures.)I appreciated that you were one of the good guys in this game. You really are. There are other police games out there, but this one does a good job with the procedural and investigation bits. The game explains the controls in the first chapter. That said, I found it very difficult to control the vehicle. Whether that was just my own ineptitude or clunky game controls, I do not know.Even when I suspected that there was something to see, I spent a lot of time doing the equivalent of a pixel search to get the game to respond. If you missed something then the game sent you back to the last save point, and you got to do it again. The quality of the graphics and sound show their age, but they are good enough for this PG-13 game. The game play is consistent and each chapter introduces new police and detective challenges. I found myself rooting for the main character and interested to see what future assignments would be like.On the GTA comment, you can smash cars and (bloodlessly) run down pedestrians. How do I know? The squad car handled for me like a battleship, and I ran into things whether I was trying or now. There are some things in the game that might trigger some of the audience. You have to shoot criminals, and if you fail then innocent people in the game might die. The game has a backstory involving training and combat in WW II, and there are some racial bigotry and plotlines that were logical and well constructed, but likely some potential players might be upset. All in all, the game was engaging and well designed, and I highly recommend it.

The Perfect Blend of Classic Detective Work and Immersive Storytelling!
As a fan of classic film noir and detective stories, I was excited to play L.A. Noire on my PlayStation 4. I was not disappointed - the game exceeded my expectations in every way.First and foremost, the game's story is top-notch. Set in 1940s Los Angeles, you play as Cole Phelps, a detective who must navigate a corrupt police department while investigating a series of crimes. The game's narrative is gripping and immersive, with twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. The game's graphics are also stunning. The developers used motion capture technology to create incredibly realistic facial animations, which adds to the immersion of the game. The attention to detail is impressive, from the cars on the streets to the clothing and architecture of the time period. But what really sets L.A. Noire apart is its unique gameplay mechanics. The game combines traditional detective work, such as investigating crime scenes and interrogating suspects, with action sequences like car chases and shootouts. This creates a perfect balance between storytelling and gameplay, and keeps the game from becoming repetitive or boring.Another great feature of the game is its replayability. Each case has multiple outcomes, depending on your choices and actions throughout the investigation. This means that you can play the game multiple times and experience a different story each time. The only downside to the game is that some of the controls can be a bit clunky. The driving mechanics, in particular, can be frustrating at times. However, this is a minor issue that does not detract from the overall experience of the game.In conclusion, L.A. Noire is a must-play game for fans of detective stories, film noir, or immersive storytelling in general. The game's gripping narrative, stunning graphics, unique gameplay mechanics, and replayability make it one of the best games available on the PlayStation 4. If you're looking for a game that will keep you hooked from start to finish, look no further than L.A. Noire!

Fun game for the price.
This was a pretty fun game. Graphics and controls are just ok - pretty dated compared to more modern games. It’s not quite up to PS5 standards but the game play is pretty good if you can get it for around $15.

A trip to LaLaLand
This game really is a lot of fun. The developers Team Bondi (who are sadly defunct) have faithfully recreated post-WWII Los Angeles from the city landmarks right down to the fashion, cars, and music. Really wish we could have gotten more games from them because the quality of the characters and the story telling, the satirical humor which harkens to GTA, and the overall attention to detail is top notch. Alas, such is the fickle nature of the gaming industry.Solving the cases becomes trickier as the game goes on, increasing in difficulty as you work your way up the ranks with Detective Cole Phelps, who is brilliantly portrayed by actor Aaron Staton. In my experience it's better to use the intuition points when needed rather than trying to solve a case alone and missing a valuable clue or clues. And interrogations are a lot easier when you have evidence to jam up the suspects with. It's truly a rewarding feeling when you put the pieces of the puzzle together, make that big bust and put the scumbags in jail. The shoot outs and fist fights are also a blast, but the gun fights especially are far from a walk in the park. My advice: pick your spots when facing a large number of opponents at once and arm yourself to the teeth every chance you get because you'll need it!To close out my review I'll say that I highly recommend this classic game which Rockstar has issued in a beautifully remastered format with the DLC included. For those like myself who had never played this game back in the day, do yourself a favor and add it to your collection now. And for those who are sitting on an older copy debating whether to upgrade, just do it. You won't regret it.
