It's a jig. What you see is what you get.
I always like getting new jigs for the shop, and this is no exception. it's a simple one, probably use it 75% of the time to drill a centered hole on round stock (like dowel rods, closet poles, even garden tool handles). Works perfectly, just sit it over the handle/dowel, and get a perfect drill hole without slipping, sliding, or getting a cock-eyed angle. It will also work on flat wood, too, if you need the help to guide your drill to perpendicular. Did just fine. Lining up your drill bit to desired hole will take a bit of practice, but it can be done with some decent light so you can see (or, a handful of other woodworking tricks to start a quick pilot guide).Solid metal, aluminum I believe, seems well made, no rough spots or burrs. It is light weight but sturdy. Side legs are thick enough to support lots of clamping weight, body is very thick. Seems strong, edges are square, light weight but sturdy enough to hold in place while I drill, no flexing or moving under my hand pressure. I popped a clamp on it too, just to hold it in place on some round stock, and it was nice and strong. No deflection at all.Drill bits were a nice addition, I have tons already, so I am just keeping this set with this jig for a while, and leaving them together because they fit nicely and are intended to be used as a set. You can use any comparable drill bit, of course, but these work nicely enough to keep around. If you want a self-centering drilling jig (for joining wood with dowel), this is not the tool for that job. But then again, it's not designed for that, so go pay a lot more to get the right tool for that kind of work. If you want to drill straight into wood, this will do fine to keep your drill at the right angle. If you want to drill straight into dowel and round stock, this will do fine. It's low price enough to add to any toolbox, and honestly, I could see it being a stocking stuffer type gift for a budding handyman.
