An amazing story that is a definite must read!
I would happily give this book 10+ stars if I could. It was a beautiful, engaging, highly entertaining, hilarious, and amazing story. It was certainly an emotional roller-coaster that will hook you from beginning to end. It is definitely a MUST READ book that everyone will truly love.I could use a lot more fancy words to describe this book, but since I'm not an author (LOL!!), I'll explain it a little differently than others would.I am disabled and have been for almost 20 years now. For the last 18+ years I have occupied my life with reading since I am unable to do much of anything. I literally read every single day, and have read over 7,500 books during this time. I have read all types of books, but I hardly ever (ok, never! Lol!) read non-fiction books. However, after recently reading a series about K-9 Police and War working dogs, I began to look for more because I absolutely love dogs, and have been fascinated with everything about this subject since I first learned about it. I saw this book was available in the Kindle Unlimited program (THANK YOU Mrs. Slater!!), and although I was highly curious about it, I was still uncertain whether I would enjoy it. Not because it wasn't a good story, but I just don't like non-fiction stories. (I figure that there's enough bad things in the world, and I've already lived through my own tragedies that I'm not interested in reading about others. Selfish, maybe. Sorry, not at all.)I decided to try it out anyway, and it is one of the absolute best stories I've ever read! I have only read a couple of authors who can adapt to writing in an animal's POV with any success. However, Lisa Slater has brilliantly written an engaging story about the heart and soul of a true K-9 Hero. She has beautifully captured all of the awe inspiring qualities of both K-9 and his best friend, as well as partner, Adam (aka Dad). It's also one of the first books that actually had me crying (several times, mind you!). Not just happy tears from laughing so hard, but heartbreaking one's as well. This beautiful K-9 had several his own tragedies that he survived, but he eventually found his forever home with not only his family, but with his community. This is definitely not a story that you'll want to miss!!!I would definitely recommend this book and exceptional author.

Review of this book.
I would have given this book a ten (10) if it had been an option. One of the best books I have ever read. The fact that it was written from the dog's perspective made it doubly endearing. The fact that it is based on a true story with the numbers and events documented made it that much better. I am sure that Odin holds some sort of record for apprehensions by a tracker dog! It just goes to show you that you cannot judge a dog by one owner's description of that dog. I cannot believe that the previous owner had the gall to demand money to release him for adoption. Bless the officer that paid the money to him. Like the officer said, Odin was worth it. Odin definitely proved that he was worth all that and more. I have recommended this book to several other people, including my daughter. I will continue to recommend this book to other people. An awesome, and inspiring story.

K9 Odin
Very interesting and insightful book written from the dog’s point of view. It held my attention throughout. Very enlightening of the life of a police dog tracker.

Wow what a K9
I heard about Odin back when I lived in Texas. He was already a legend in his own time. I read about his captures and his social visits to schools. This wonderful book tells his story as experienced from his own eyes. Reading about his captures you can actually feel the passion and prey drive of a working K9. The book explains his run ins with porkupines were not his fault and the time he got so sick and almost died. And how the community of Coos County pitched in pay his enourmous hospital bill and saved his life. Then we moved to Coos county I could see for myself that Odin was like a tawny lion in a dog's body, running toward danger with his partner to remove criminals. We have a Germen Shepherd, she is a working ranch guard dog that knows 30 commands. I hoped to breed her to Odin. I inquired but was informed that unfortunately this was not allowed because he was government property. By the time Odin retired my bitch was too old so it was not to be. This is a wonderful book I love this book. I am going to send a copy to my nephew, a young man who wants to move to the Oregon coast and become a policeman.

Can't stop reading it
I had followed Odins career for many years. This book, written by Odins human mommy is just plain beautiful. I've laughed, I've cried, I almost dread getting to the end. When we lost Odin alot of us took it personally because he wrote 'us' every day about his adventures. He was 'family', I could not wait to read of his relationship with his daddy Adam. Partners for life. Odin, you sure got you and your dad dirty and stinky quite a few time. Bless you Lisa for writing such a touching book. I'm tearing up already. Thank you Adam for bring Odin to life for all of us. He is still very loved. Bless you

Fully captures the bond between K9 and handler which few will ever understand.
Full disclosure, I know both the author and K9 Odin's handler, Adam, and had the great honor of training with them and Odin at the annual K9 recertification conferences. The measure of a truly great book and author is how well they can invoke powerful emotions while simultaneously immersing you into a world outside of your own experiences. Lisa does just that. Perhaps it is because I am a K9 handler and author, but I think it is simply because of Lisa's extraordinary gift and the fantastic story that is Odin's and Adam's. Few will ever understand the bond that forms between a working K9 and its handler, but Lisa does a masterful job of sharing it. Expect to laugh, cry, shake your head, and realize you are reading about real miracles, and then finish knowing that you just enjoyed a taste of the connection between human and K9 that can only occur when their lives depend on one another.

Fantastic book
I have so loved this book and recommend to all dog lovers. Odin is a wonderful tracker dog and the story is beautifully written from his canine point of view. It is full of action, inspiration and understanding of how the canine mind works.Odin is marvelous! As is his handler, family and colleagues. Truly a story of the love, loyalty and faith that exists between humans and dogs.
