I have outside well for my home to which the pipes are in a house but do get a lot of wind here in Michigan and sometimes freezes ! So I bought new heat cables and used this tape over it to better keep pipes. From freezing !

I live in Maine. Every year I have issues with my pipes freezing. A couple of weeks ago I had no water for 5 days when the temps dipped to -30 with -50 wind chill. After that I purchased 2 rolls of this tape. There was about a 4 to 5 foot section of pipe that I believe was causing the issue. It took a couple of minutes to wrap the pipes. It stuck to itself well but I had to use some duct tape to secure the ends. Later that night the temps dipped to -10. I was thrilled to have running water the next day. Seems like this tape works well.

Wrapped around water pipes in wall that had frozen during a severe unusual cold snap. Did not have room for the non-tape type pipe insulated covers. Re-insulated wall also. Don't know how it is going to work for sure but it can't hurt. I recommend this product for pipe insulation in tight areas.

It sticks well to the pipe

I have a cold water supply pipe that has heat tape running to the shutoff valve from the well, but I needed coverage for a small area of exposed pipe that runs from my shutoff to my water heater just below the floor and is exposed to outside temperatures (crawl space, no basement). This tape worked well, with good coverage and adhesion even at the 90-degree elbow. I used pipe wire ties to secure the ends as double protection from lift away, and now my supply line is covered from the well to the water heater with no gaps exposed to the cold temps. I am also happy that it is red to make it easy to see and inspect in the future.
