DIG MAN......
Not a review of film which is a classic as everyone knows. This review is for the 4K version of the film compared to the blu ray and whether the upgrade is worth it. I had the Criterion release and I compared the 4k to both it and the Sony disc which comes with 50th anniversary edition. I only have a budget LG 43 inch LED 4k tv but even on that it is very easy to see the difference. Not so much in detail or the soundtrack but with regards to HDR which is the main reason you would buy this. You only need to watch the first few minutes of film to see the benefits. For example things that I noticed were the sky looking so much brighter and a much deeper blue, colours like reds, oranges -e.g. on the child - looking so much more vivid, skin tones looking deeper. Another example that sticks out in my mind is when Billy and Wyatt go to ranch to get their bike tyre repaired. The blue of the denim of the rancher against the blue of the sky just looks incredible. There is a video on YouTube which shows a comparison between the 4k 50th Anniversary and Sony edition which gives lots more examples. I will say that if you already have the on blu ray but love the movie then the upgrade is most definitely worthwhile. On a large premium OLED or QLED - which I can't wait to view it on in future - I'm sure it will look absolutely amazing.

Fantastic 4K Transfer of a Classic '60's Film
This edition of Easy Rider represents the best this film will ever look in a home video format as Sony's 4K transfer is natural & organic retaining the original film's grain structure with superb clarity and warm accurate colours. The soundtrack is outstanding and I highly recommend this Sony edition as Criterion has the North American rights, they eventually will offer a North American release but their 4K transfers are hit & miss right now, so buy this UK edition.

Quality isn't bad
Glad I've seen it, but I won't be in a hurry to watch it again. The quality is good considering when it was made.A fascinating insight into early counter culture. Some great cameos and a star studded cast.

Great movie with a great transfer
This movie has a Native 4K presentation with HDR10 colour coding and it looks fantastic, while the 50 year old 35MM camera negative does show its age with noticeable film grain which does become rather noisy in certain parts of the film, the picture quality is still fantastic, the HDR, while not particularly dramatic does aid in the giving the palate a more nuanced and natural look, however the reds in the parade scene do the pop that you’d come to expect with HDR, overall I would highly recommend adding this disc to your collection if you have 4K equipment

Classic counterculture film with the soundtrack that lives on.
The film which was the reason I wanted to start riding a motorcycle all those years ago, now in glorious 4K.

Hippy time!
Takes me back 50 years! It was great then, and remains great today, with wonderful music. Of course, the bikes are the real stars, and I saw Fonda's Captain America bike in a Guggenheim show. Not to mention hosts of similar conversions in Los Angeles (where else?), and on Orange County Choppers.

Absolute Classic
One of those classic 1960's films, with a heavy counterculture feel, gritty and tense and a must see for motorcycle fans.
