High quality plug, great magnet, good washer selection. I installed on 2 Prius Primes.
This is a very high quality drain plug, truly made of stainless steel, truly containing a super magnet, and having a nice selection of washers with it, to match what is standard on various makes/models of cars. Installing it on both Prius Primes in my family (2017 and 2021) I chose the aluminum crush washers with blue gasket material attached, to match what Toyota uses. The flange size, washer material, and threads all are correct, and seem more precise than stock. That last point, I like, but it may also have a downside. The threads seem to be cut to a tighter quality tolerance, less sloppy of a fit than the original Toyota drain plugs, with better surface finish also. You definitely want to be gentle when you start them by hand, and check that they're threading in with zero resistance, because if you start one at an angle and force it, they are probably stronger and sharper than the threads in the oil pan, and you don't want the new plug to tap new cross-threaded threads into the oil pan.The only other way in which they are not preferable to the original drain plug, is that Toyota mechanics and oil-change places will try using a 14mm socket or wrench, and the heads on these are 15mm. Physically better, just not what a grease monkey will be expecting. The good news is that a14mm wrench won't fit on at all, so won't do any damage, while if it had come with a 13mm bolt head, they could round off the corners using the 14mm wrench they are sure to try.So, I can very highly recommend them if you do your own oil changes, have no trouble with using 15mm rather than 14mm socket/wrench, and will take the extra couple of seconds to align and finger-tighten the plug before torquing it.I do not recommend it for anyone getting their oil changed where they might be careless and start threading it in with a socket wrench, or worse yet an impact wrench. While no mechanic should ever do that, it is something to guard against if you don't change your own oil. Some mechanics (not to mention oil-change place "techs") cut corners, and they are used to the loose thread fit of a standard drain plug, where they can normally save a couple of seconds by not hand-starting drain plugs and lug nuts.I am a mechanical engineer who did a project at an aerospace machine shop for about a year. This drain plug is basically at that quality level (though without inspection certificates for each individual bolt) and not something you will find at a hardware store. Just beware, that in the hands of the wrong mechanic, it could become a precision tool for destroying your oil pan. Not that they couldn't do so with a standard drain plug and impact wrench also.
