If you like horses, this one is good
OK, I added the shirt picture for fun. Julie lives in MN, we lived in MN & that was an awesome connection. In Nokota Voices, She instills her dog Paisley into a young lady form. Paisley travels to ND for work and realizes there is some extended family at Forever fields. I really enjoyed the members of horses and family members ( because we all remember horse names more than humans). The Lakota language and the ancestry of the horses follow Paisley and she longs to understand. She finds more than the answer she was looking for. Hard to put down, but I suggest if you ever saw these Nokota horses; read a section and then reflect. This should be put into an independent film

Coming of Age great story
Paisley leaves home in her truck with her dog. She ends up where the Nakota horses are kept. During the time, she learns many lessons and also learns about the family connections she never knew existed. During her time working on landscaping the rarea around the house, she makes discoveries. She finds friends and love. But the marvelous horses are the real stars of the story. Remnants from the Custer battle, these horses have faced destruction twice. A great story and one to show a young girl becoming a young woman,

Learned about the Nokota Horses
This isn’t just a book for horse lovers. It’s a book about branching out and courageously finding yourself. The beauty of Christen’s story is that family is the answer to most of her questions. The rich history of the Nokota and the Lakota culture adds to completing the puzzle. A little fun and romance is icing on the cake!

A fun Young-adult story
I felt remiss for buying a signed copy of "Nokota Voices" from Julie Christen, then being too busy to read it...for months. When I finally found the time to read, I was captivated by the story of Paisley Noon. Leaving her father and stepmother behind, Paisley loads her aging horse, border collie, and cat for a job at a farm that advertised itself as a horse rehabilitation center. Not realizing she was going to open a book to her own family's past, she travels to Forever Fields. The story is touching, as Paisley is "adopted" into her mother's estranged family, people she's never known. In the process, Paisley discovers the Nokota breed of horses, with bloodlines going back to Sitting Bull, but now on the verge of extinction. The book is a fun, coming of age story that pulls the reader into this young woman's life as she discovers the place where she belongs. We've purchased copies of Nokota Voices for all of our young adult readers.

A story which totally captivated my whole being!
The moment you open this book it will consume you which makes it very difficult to put down because you want to know more about Paisley and her beloved animals and their adventures. I have never wanted to get to the end of a book so bad but yet not wanting it to end! I'm really hoping there is going to be a more to this story! Great work Julie!!!
