The desolding point was almost next to ceramic tile wall. I used 2 thin "hardy board" type board pieces behind it and this product as 1st line of fire. Kept flame on the flame side. Did not cross over. No answer on durability except it survived the torch.

Don't spend the money and use one of these if -- you don't care about scorching your walls, studs and plumbing fixtures with your torch. And don't apply the torch flame directly on to the mat itself for very long, because anything will burn at those temperatures.

Worked great as a fire barrier when soldering pipes under the house.

First time I tried to use it it caught fire. Used as directed and it doesn't do the one job it is supposed to do.I dropped it in a puddle and got rid of it.

No problem using this pad. Use it or risk damaging walls or setting a fire.

Found it worked well, but find that it seems really “thin”. I didn’t want to take a chance so I also used a wet rag to protect some other areas behind it. Otherwise, so far, they’re ok.

This little mat is amazing, never used one before and it helped allot. Bit of advice, do not touch it when its hot lol
