Pros and Cons analysis with critical design notes
Positive things to say about this dish rack:1. The large bottom tray is great for smaller items and glasses.2. The cup rack sides are a great design feature and are fantastic for stemware/ wine glasses.3. This is a large rack which will hold a large load if using both the top and bottom trays.4. This is easily stored and breaks down to a slim design.5. This is well coated so no rusting after a few months of use.Negative design elements:1. This rack is prone to collapsing if the bottom rack is not properly weighted. This is the main reason for my 3 star review. This collapsed on us 3 times. My solution was to zip tie the rack together to keep it from collapsing, and even then the smooth wire slipped through the zip ties and it collapsed on me once more. Now, with the rack zip tied, I can no longer fold this up for storage.2. The extra wide expansion makes it sometimes hard to hold plates. You can nestle them in one side, but the other side of the plate is not as securely fixed, so if you are not careful the plate can fall over. This can be somewhat seen in the Amazon product image as the plates are only nested very shallowly.3. This rack doesn't have wider slots at the ends; the wider slots on other racks are nice for pot lids. All the slots are uniform on this design. We have been using this rack for several months. I do like the size, and after making some accommodations to ensure that we load it properly it is mostly functional. However, with the initial collapsing issues, I still don't trust it. Although the sides will easily accommodate many cups, we don't load many cups on the sides since that top loads the rack which causes it to collapse. All things being equal, this is a critical design flaw and I don't think I would buy this again. But with so few good racks out there, we are still looking for one we really like.

They fit fine in the old one
I bought to replace an almost identical rack i have had for years. This one claims it holds a large load. Well, the side support reinforcement bars are 9 inches apart. A large corelle plate needs a 10 inch separation between these two supports. I suspect my old one was made to these dimensions, since corelle plates are the number one seller of dinner plates. The plates fall over and out of the rack. They fit fine in the old one. I suspect the manufacturer cut the dimensions slightly to save money. The overall size in about an inch less on each side. The cross bar separation isn't listed in the description. I also found discoloration and the beginning of corrosion on the bottom supports.

Rack-tastic Drying
Been using this for a couple of weeks, and it's worlds better than the plastic or wooden kind. The little loops squeeze your cups in place, so even wine glasses can be dried on the side without falling off. The amount of storage space that adds is huge. Also impressive how flat it folds. To address other reviewers' fears, I haven't had any issues with large plates/bowls tipping over so far (Corelle 10.25" dinner plates and 10" serving bowls seem fine), and to prevent the rack popping flat, I just wrapped some painter's tape around the clip. Wire or a tight squeeze with pliers would also work. For the amount of functional space those cup loops add, it's worth two minutes of precautionary MaCGyver-ing.

Discoloration of finish ....Blech!
I wanted to contact the seller (amazon) directly with my issue but could find no way to do that other than to write a review. I've had this type of dish-rack for over 12 years and I love it. It is especially important to buy one with the open loops on the sides (which are not connected by a bar) so that glasses, mugs and baby bottles can be hung and wine glasses can be inserted to hang upside-down. Every few years it needs to be replaced because of ugly rust that accumulates , particularly around the bottom. But I keep buying them because the design really works for me. I was shocked when the entire rack began to discolor from the very first use and just got worse with time. The function is not effected but it simply looks bad- like a dark gray rash on the silver gray finish. (clearly not metal but just a paint). Surprisingly no one else has mentioned this problem in their reviews. My water is soft and doesn't have this effect on anything else in my house. So what's up?

Holds the most dishes.
I've never found a drying rack that can hold so much stuff. There's just enough space between the bottom shelf and the top that I can slide short things all the way back - Tupperware, short mugs and glasses, etc.I've had one of these racks in white for 10 years or more. After all that time it started looking a little worn/ratty starting to rust in spots, but I had trouble finding another one - or any other design versatile in shape enough that I could hold my biggest pots, or hold the same number of dishes as this one. I held onto it until I finally found one here. This time I'm trying the silver to see if it looks nice even longer. Some dishes will want to fall over if they're near the edge. I put a large plate or cutting board on the end to brace things in the middle. The utensil holder helps. This time I'm getting two - one for each end. They'll help brace things, and I often run out of utensil space with just one.I never had problems with the rack itself collapsing. The "lock" design is fairly simple - the front bar on the base fits into a 'loop' on the bottom shelf. You can see that in the picture. My best guess on collapsing problems is that some of these might ship with a 'loop' that isn't pinched around the bar enough.I saw someone complain they couldn't find a drain tray big enough. I had a hard time, but currently I prefer a Microfiber Dish drying mat underneath. It soaks up the moisture, and is easy to throw in the washing machine when it gets a little yucky. I always hate cleaning drain boards.Microfiber Dish Drying Mat,

It was also a poor design. It can only handle smaller plates
This item was very cheaply and poorly manufactured. It was also a poor design. It can only handle smaller plates. Regular dinner plates do not fit.Several "welds" broke in only the first 2-3 days. The description and the picture seemed great. I guess this is one of those items that should not be bought online since you cannot closely inspect them.Live and learn!

Flimsy- bends when heavier items are placed on it to dry, don't expect it to last a long time.
