Cracking little book - Update: New car park fees at Fairholmes
Cracking little book for anyone from novice to experienced walker, cyclist, jogger, dog walker and kids. This book was reprinted in 2018 and does not include changes to the car parks at Derwent and Howden reservoirs. I was last up there on New Years Eve with the dog avoiding fireworks and noticed Pay and Display meters in the main car park and some of those along the access road, but not all. The charges operate 24/7 365 days of the year and as I am not the only nocturnal visitor I can understand why the 24 hour charges. Also the access road from the roundabout at Fairholmes Car Park is restricted at weekends and other busy times for vehicles except Blue Badge holders, residents and the local bus service. That said it is such a narrow road they have no choice but close it.There is bike hire at the TIC and I would recommend it's use for the 11 mile round trip of walk1, because the road section is closed to traffic.I love how they've put the contents in centre fold where it falls open to naturally. It's dinky, lightweight and well written so it works well with a full size map and although not the best paper for wet weather, it's easy to photocopy and laminate the pages you need or even increase size this way making the 2.99 even better value. These may be well known, popular routes but even just as a memory jogger when you are wondering what to do and where to go ... they are great valUE.

So pleased
Excellent little book, so much information about the walks in Derbyshire. It does have drawn maps in it, but it is the written detail of someone that has done the walk before, that is most helpful. We did Kinder Scout using it and an Ordinance Survey map too. We will certainly buy more.

The author of this book has done a fantastic job. It is VERY easy to follow and if you follow what is written to the letter you won't go off the path. The walks on here were great. I've only done two of them but can't wait to explore the rest. Thoroughly recommended.
