Brilliant! A truly remarkable story
Brilliant! A truly remarkable story! Anyone who is a teacher, or mentor, especially for children who face challenges in their learning should buy and read this book. So should their students and all students! An inspiration to how in a world full of darkness and challenges, you can overcome any adversity. Easy to read too, from cover to cover can easily be read in a couple of hours maximum even if you take your time and really ingest each new moment.

Just as good as I remember it.
I loved this book when I was a little girl. I remember being really moved by the story. Bought it recently and was moved again. It prompted me to find out a lot more about Annie Sullivan's life, which was even more brutal than this book tells. This is definitely a children's book, suitable for a child with a reading age of about 8 or 9. The story is sweetly told. Much of it is very sad, but it ends with a much more positive note, so is fine for children. The pathos is not over egged but comes through simply.

wonderful story
Loved this book as a child but it was sadly ruined. Quite why it took me so long to think of buying a new one from Amazon I have no idea but so glad to be able to read it again. My husband was intrigued by my love for the book and read it after me and was very impressed

Memorable and inspiring book
Read this book as a child and absolutely loved it - then read it to my first daughter when she was about 10 and she too loved it - my copy fell apart so am just buying another to read it again to my second daughter. Fabulous, inspiring book. Read it!

I loved this book as a child
I loved this book as a child, so bought it for my daughter. I didn't have the wide range of books she does, but am sure she will enjoy it. Good food for thought on others less fortunate

Heart-rending
Helen Keller's teacher was remarkable - only because of her did Helen become what she was. A very easy to read children's book - but well worth reading. An exceedlingly sad childhood.
