A gripping story
A very good story that proves that ordinary people can find extraordinary strength and resourcefulness when faced with adversity.

Great read from a Highlands based writer
I bought this book at a craft fair from Jeanette directly and it was sitting on my shelf for a while before i thought i'd give it a go. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I love Jeanette's natural way of writing and she engaged me from the start. My partner read it on my recommendation too and he loved it and I've since recommended to my sister and others. I also downloaded Dragons Promise and just finished that. Looking forward to the nexr one!

So gripping, had to read it in day!
This book was an unexpected delight. I was given a copy for review purposes and I was just not sure what I would make of it.I started reading it with an open mind but very quickly found that the book gripped me. I usually only get a chance for a few minutes reading a day but with this I made time and as such finished it within a day. I can't remember the last book that made me feel like that. The charactors seems true to life, the description of the Assynt scenery is exactly how it is and the situations that arise are truely believable.I can only throughly recommend this book if you fancy something a bit thought provoking around how folk deal with pyschological and physical trauma.

Gritty Adventure with a Twist
I approached this with a degree of trepidation as it bore all the hallmarks of a damsel-in-distress tale - a weak woman terrorised by an abusive partner - the only saving grace being the setting (the wild North West coast of Scotland). But after a hesitant start the story makes a wholly unexpected detour - the victim refuses to give in to her tormentor despite her history of being weak-willed and feckless. This fresh take on our instinct for survival and self-preservation creates a clever plot twist just when you think you're fairly sure how things are going to turn out.Full marks for originality - as well as some truly evocative descriptive passages that bring this stunning landscape to life. The main characters are properly fleshed out and show the writer's care and compassion when describing human frailities.Unlike many novels spiced with a degree of eroticism or romanticism this tale refuses to bow down to Hollywood stereotypes - the guy doesn't necessarily get the gal he was gunning for. True to life and a thoroughly rewarding read.
