The Complete Irredeemable by Mark Waid

Mark Waid is a writer I have enjoyed for a while. He’s a great storyteller weather he’s working for the big 2 or his Creator owned projects. No spoilers for the story. Art was great and consistent Throughout the run. The build of the book is quite good for a Standard size softcover. It’s quite heavy though.

As a die-hard superman fan, this comic… THIS COMIC… means more to me than I can put into words. As I finish this final page I have tears in my eyes and I am holding back floods. What an incredible piece of writing, I would never have thought something like this possible. If you’re an experienced comic reader with the capability to understand this fully. Do yourself a favour and buy this, I am in awe. I would write an essay on how I feel about this story, pure poetry.

A great series exploring the oft-tread subject of "What if superman but bad?" it explores the subject in a on better and more sympathetic way than the jaded and shock-based angle of the original Boys comic. Mark Waid actualy loves superhero comics (unlike Ennis whose contempt for the genre kind of taints the story) and superman in particular and it shows. The Plutonian isn't superman, but he's close enough without tainting the image of the rea deal. Worth a read

So I have been branching out from my usual reads and stumbled across this gem.I have only just got this today (also only ordered today) so far the story is really good, it kinda just grabs you and pulls you in.Delivery was excellent , well packaged. However it did come with a bit of damage (as shown in picture) they only lose 1 star for that.

Muy sorprendido por la calidad tanto de encuadernación como gramaje de página y tinta. Es, en esencia, un Ómnibus con tapa blanda, porque para 900 y pico páginas que bien podría haber sido la mitad de grueso si hubieran usado un papel menos chanante, en la tradiciónal construcción de casi todos los Compendiums en TPB de alta paginación, este es gordo y grueso y saturadisimo de tinta y color. Por poner un par de ejemplos comparando con DC USA, tengo tambien The Complete Incorruptible que con sus 700 y pico páginas es casi tan grueso como el primer Compendium de Starman, el que mejor se editó ( es 1/3 más grueso que el segundo Compendium teniendo casi la misma paginación los dos),que lleva 1400 páginas más o menos. Es más del doble de grueso que el primer Compendium de Sandman Mystery Theatre, que es similar en paginación a este The Complete Irredeemable, unas 900 y pico.Y todo esto por menos de 45 euros, toma ya.Es recio y sólido como el solo, se nota en su peso. Y así son el resto de estos tomos tan bien editados por BOOM! Studios con las estupendas historias de Mark Waid.Así que, sí BOOM! continua editando así de bien sus Compendiums, va a haber que ir echándole el guante. 🥊
