Q: How can I be sure the pen is genuine?

I do not work for Montblanc but have been an avid collector since I was in my teens. It came from my grandfather who also collected Montblanc pens. Here is how to tell if what you are buying is genuine: 1. It comes in a very nice black case with the pen gently tucked in between the satin folds of the presentation box. THEN it MUST be inside a long white box----very plain-but that has the serial number and the model number on one end of the box. THEN, there is a warranty booklet that, if done properly, sits on top of the presentation box and then those two items are inside the white box. THEN, there is a serial number, on EVERY pen. It's usually on the underside of the clip; but I just looked at my "M Marc Newson" rollerball and it is VERY VERY small and you would need a jewelry-maker's loupe to identify. So, if you have all of these and then the pen just FEELS "right" in your hand---you have a genuine Montblanc Pen. With proper maintenance you can pass it down to your children or grandchildren--as mine did to me. I have almost 80 Montblanc pens going back to the 1930's. I hope you enjoy your purchase! They are so magnificent.

Q: Can this take a mont blanc fineliner refill?

the Rollerball Marc Newson is supposed to support fineliner refill, I dont know why they say it doesnt support. The Ballpoint Marc Newson doesnt support it, so the item could be mislabel. It could actually be a ballpoint pen.
