Great value compact volume pedal
The Donner Viper Volume & Expression pedal is a great lttle piece of kit.It is made of sturdy plastic and should withstand being gigged. Its size, measured at 140 L x 65 W x 55 H mm when the Viper is down, is not dissimilar to my Boss fx pedals, measured at 128 L x 70 W x 55 H mm, which makes it ideal for fitting into a single row pedal board. The input jack is on the right and the output jack on the left. I was only able to test it as a volume pedal because I have no kit that accepts an expression pedal. The operation of the pedal is smooth and quiet. You can feel a very slight resistance when you operate it by hand, however, this should reduce over time as the moving parts polish their surfaces against each other. The Viper is fitted with a 100KΩ linear potentiometer; if you are going to plug a guitar with a high impedance pickup directly into this then you will experience tone-sucking because you will have an impedance mismatch. The simple answer is to plug your guitar directly into a pedal with a high impedance (1MΩ) input first and then plug that into the Viper's input.I compared the Viper mechanically with a good old Schaller Fusschweller F121 (which also has a 100KΩ linear potentiometer) and, to my surprise, found that the Viper has a slightly greater angle of travel than the Schaller. The Schaller is less smooth to operate and certainly much noisier. I do believe, however, that the smaller size of the Viper does not encourage the user to place their foot to best advantage, but this is easily achieved with a bit of practise.I was certainly able to produce some very credible swells with the Viper after playing with it for only half an hour.If you want a compact volume pedal to fit on a single row pedal board then this will fit the bill very nicely.

A very affordable expression pedal
I'm very satisfied with the Viper. It works perfectly as a volume pedal, but I bought it primarily as a cheap expression pedal for my Strymon Cloudburst before deciding if I need to spend much more on a more recognised model. It's made of plastic, but it feels sturdy enough to take a reasonable amount of punishment, and the expression function is fine. The pedal is very compact, so it's easy to squeeze onto a pedal board, but the downside to that is a limited stroke - not a problem once you get used to it, but something to bear in mind. Remember to make sure you have a TRS cable to go with it if using it as an expression pedal.

Great pedal and adds a boost to your signal
This is brilliant value for money! This is a brilliant wee product. It’s small size is ideal for your pedal board, doesn’t take up much space and the added volume mean you don’t need another volume pedal. It does add a bit of a boost to your signal when the wah is active so you might want to add a compressor to control the signal. But for the price you really can’t beat it, great sound for soloing, perfect size for compact pedalboards.

Exceptional pedal at affordable price (+Video Review)
The media could not be loaded. This pedal delivered far better than i'd expected for the price point.I play in a covers band and recently made the switch from multi-effects units to building my own 'for purpose' pedal boards. I've been buying pedals based on who uses them rather than what's most affordable and have ended up returning/reselling a large amount. This pedal on the other hand does everything I could want a Wah-Wah pedal to do for a quarter of the price of other brands. The build quality is great, I wouldn't be worried carting this around day in-and-out or dropping it from some height.I've not experience any loss in signal when using it with other pedals (an issue I've have with other brands in the past) and really do enjoy the sounds I've gotten out of it so far. The fact it doubles as a volume pedal is a welcome extra. The switch feels good and as such i'm not worried about accidental switching between the modes.Looking forward to trying it out in some live sets!Highly recommended if you want a Wah pedal that delivers without breaking the bank!

Not As Easy To Use As The Full Sized Kind
The Donner Vowel Mini Active Wah/Volume is a very polite and useful wah pedal. It is smaller than a traditional wah pedal, which means it is somewhat more sensitive to foot movements. You can get good results, but you do have to take a bit more care than with a full sized pedal. It doubles as a volume pedal, which isn't quite as useful as I first thought, for more or less the same reasons. Also, you do have to be careful not to nudge or bump the thing if it's in your signal chain, so I would not recommend it for stage use.I've been using it in a home studio setting, which is where I think it's designed to flourish. There is only one tone envelope available, and understandably Donner have chosen a relatively smooth, pleasant sounding one. The emphasis is never ugly or lumpy the way other wah pedals sometimes are, but this also means you might have trouble getting those ear-ripping tones that some players love.At only £35 the pedal is a reasonable buy. It's solidly constructed from hard plastic, and in a pinch it can double as a swell pedal. But I can easily imagine myself going back to a more traditional size of pedal for both wah and volume/swell.

Absolut empfehlenswertes Wah Wah Pedal.
