Great bladder. Access for filling could be MUCH better.
If you don't fill the pack with gear, you can use this like a youth version of the Zoid and kids can wear it under their coat or over it. Very streamlined in that way. However, the bag is another design that is annoying to fill. I don't know why Camelback went away from the simple design where you could open a flap on the front and easily access the water bladder. With this design, you have to unhook the bag in the storage area, pull it out, fill it, cram it back in and re-hook the loop. It's annoying. Would be tough to teach your "youth" to do this, depending on the age. There is also no shutoff valve on this bite valve. The shutoff is always nice to have for transit between trips when the bladder is full. That way, if anybody sits on the bite valve or gear squishes it during travel, you won't end up with a huge puddle. I know they sell the valve switch separate, but the insulation is not designed to cover that accessory.I do love Camelback products. They last long and the bite valves are the simplest and best out there. Lately, though, they have been making designs that are inconvenient to fill... and since you have to fill it EVERY time you use it, that seems like a feature you would want to simplify.

Perfect for a little big kid
My four year old wanted desperately to go hiking, but hydration was an issue. He LOVES this bag. Drank the whole thing on our walk.Great value for the money and just the right size.

Freezes
If you don't blow the water back into the bladder after drinking, it will still freeze in the tube. Good size and my 6 year old says it's comfortable. There is a built in whistle.

DO NOT BUY
This is the most poorly designed product I have ever purchased. No child could fill this her/himself. You can barely even access the hole to fill it without adult strength. The length and tensility of the band to hold the cap on is such that when you screw the cap back on and attempt to push the bladder back into the WAY TOO NARROW pack opening, it pops off. Every single time. Therefore, in order to expose the aperture enough to re-screw the cap, if it's more than about 1/3 full, water will overflow into the pack itself. These problems all could have been simply solved for pennies by putting a velcro slot just a couple inches down the back, but they decided instead to make it virtually unusable even for adults.
