Q: Is this the original pen holder replacement? Why the mark-up?

Yes, this is exactly like the original part that came with the machine. Since I purchased this it has worked well. However, I have since been told that Cricut will replace them free if you call support and tell them yours has broken. Apparently, this is a common problem with the pen adapter. My cricut was several years old, so I didn't dream they would replace something that I thought might have been my fault. Give it a try if they won't replace this is your best choice. It is a perfect fit.

Hello. I will be glad to help. In the medal holder you will see 6 holes. 4 holes for screws, which you can attach the holder to the wall. 2 holes are used for attaching bibs.

Yes. I have and explore air 2, and it fits it.
