Cool small vest
I have always wanted to be cool, and now I can with this cooling vest. If you live in a hot climate, this vest can really help you stay cool. When I put this vest on, I immediately felt so much cooler. The temperatures outside regularly are 100 degrees or higher, and this vest makes being outside bearable. It was easy and quick to get the vest cool, and it lasted for quite a while outside in the heat. I would say that it doesn't last as long with temperatures above 100 degrees though. I got about 1 hour max in the heat, and then it became uncomfortable. It's also easy to store and reuse. The only thing I would improve is to make it bigger because it seems like it was made for a smaller person. I thought it was one size fits all, but it does run small. It doesn't really cover my front, it just covers my back and sides mostly. I have to pull it tight to move it around my front.A good product, but it was small and doesn't last as long in the very hot climates.

Neat idea that works well in specific situations
First of all, yes, it works! I have a few hats that you wet and as they dry, they cool your head. I figured this would work in the same way since evaporation causes the cooling. So, I feel this vest works very well at cooling as the water in it evaporates, but that comes with a few caveats that are shown by my experience when testing it.Right now, my area of the country is under a heat wave so I grabbed this vest, wet it down, rung it out, then took the dog on a walk to pick up the mail in the 102 degree weather. I also decided to try out the claim by the order page that you could wear it under clothing, which seemed a bit far-fetched. Putting on the vest was a VERY cooling experience as it hit the skin, which boded well. As we headed down the street on the (approximately) 10 minute walk, things were nicely cool. However, about halfway through, the sun and temperature began to overwhelm the cooling action. The body heat warmed the vest to the point where the water itself became warm and the vest became a pretty swampy thing to be stuck inside. So, I don't suggest wearing it under any clothing in higher temperatures since the vest can't breathe appropriately to keep the evaporation going.Once the mail was gathered and I had returned inside, I put the vest back on the outside of my shirt and went on a drive in my car's AC. It cooled back off nicely and held its dampness for the 30 minute drive. I noticed that in spots like my underarms that were kept near my sides when I drove, the vest had become warm and no longer cooled. So the bottom line is not really all that shocking, given the science behind this vest - you need to be able to get a fresh supply of air to as much of it as possible to keep its cooling behavior at the peak. The vest stayed wet for about an hour in my first test. I would think that if I were outside working - doing the lawn, weeding, moving regularly, it would work very well. Also, I think it likely works best in temperatures between 80 and 95 and certainly in dry climates (humid climates will have less evaporation). Above 95-ish, the ambient temperature and your body heat will overwhelm the water held in the vest so it becomes warm and kills the cooling effect.Know that this vest does not breathe at all. Once it loses its water, it rapidly becomes a warming device. It is really pretty small. I wear a 34 regular jacket, or in general a large shirt size, and this is small on me. It cannot wrap all the way around my body, which isn't really a bad thing since that helps it to breathe on the inside. The order page says it will close with velcro at the waist, but mine didn't have any closure - but again, I would say that is a good thing. You don't want this thing to close around you or the inside won't have a way to evaporate the water. The white bands on the sides are stitched-in elastic, so it is not adjustable. If you have any girth to your physique, this will likely not be particularly comfortable.I assumed that there would be some kind of lining to keep it from sweating water on your clothing, but it is basically an open chamois on both sides. Nonetheless, I didn't have any issues with water leaching onto my clothes as it cooled. Just be sure to wring it out unless you don't care if you get a little damp. I did my testing with a very breathable linen shirt, so cotton and polyester shirts will likely have slightly different results.

Works ok but doesn't last.
So. This DOES work, however if it's real hot out it dries up pretty quick. You'll have to constantly reload it with water. That being said, it does keep you cool while it's working. One other negative is that there is no way to tie or zip it up. The front just hangs open. It would be better with a plastic zipper or even a couple of string ties along the front.
