Was excited to find this product heavily discounted at around £20, as it would allow monitoring microphones on cameras without a headphone output. I'm sad to say it isn't even worth that, and the original price is surely some kind of sick joke. This is a very cheap plastic unit with basic audio pathways, bargain basement level, desperately trying to look like something it's not. Little effort was put into its design. Adds a ton of hiss to the input. If you invest money on a good microphone to improve your audio, this device totally defeats that purpose as it will make things worse that using the camera's onboard microphone. Just plug the microphone directly to the camera and calibrate your levels beforehand, or use an external recorder if you're going to do post-production. Also, the hotshoe adapter features a coarse metal plate that grinds down your hotshoe (any paint will immediately come off) and doesn't even work that well: despite this chunky metal bit teething at your hotshoe, the unit is actually connected to the mounting adapter by two tiny plastic indents. I wouldn't trust it to hold heavier mics.Oh, and the package is about 10 times larger than it needs to be, hollow and totally plastic. In this day and age? Really?Do yourself a favour and stay clear of this brand.
