The way it comes, the spice level is very low/not spicy. I just add a little shake of red pepper powder for some heat, and it's just right for me. You may also want to add some cumin or something, just a little dash. The biggest complaint I think is it being bland, but it's really not a bad base, and takes two seconds to add a little spice to taste.These are perfect for me. No refrigeration needed, comes in it's own bowl. Hard to find good non-freezer/no-refrigerated meals. For health reasons, had to eliminate fast food. This is a good easy option for a quick meal.You could make this in bulk for like $0.40 a serving(if that) if you really want to be frugal, though for the convenience it's worth it to me.Real food, and easy.

I really wanted to like this product. Tasty Bites Madras Lentils (which I believe this uses) is one of their better tasting products, in my opinion. However, the microwaveable rice it comes with tastes just plain bad to my tastebuds. Maybe the bowls we got were a fluke, but the flavor literally reminded me of eating playdough. I have had some bad tasting microwaveable rice, but this was definitely the worst I have had. On the plus side, the form factor it comes in is quite convenient, and the spork included is significantly better than what you usually see in these kinds of products. But the rice flavor is so bad, it just kind of ruins it. I would have given it only 2 stars, but I'll give 3, as you can remedy it some degree if you add enough other strong tasting ingredients on top to try and mask the bad rice taste.

Taste was lacking. The amount was insufficient. The packaging was extremely wasteful. Would not buy again.

This product is not my favorite; however, I am just learning to like plant based foods. I do like Tasty Bite foods.
